Cincinnati State Technical and Community College College Credit Plus

What is College Credit Plus? College Credit Plus provides an opportunity for qualified high school students to take college courses and earn college credit, at no cost, while still enrolled in high school. College courses result in both transcripted college credit and high school credit toward graduation. Upon graduation, CCP students can continue their education at Cincinnati State or transfer their college credit to another Ohio college or university.

College Credit Plus Benefits Many courses available on campus or online Opportunities to bring courses to the high school Earn a year’s worth of credit at Cincinnati State prior to graduation from high school Engage with college professors Access to college courses not available in your high school Access to college resources (library, tutoring, activities)

Risks Grades matter - Grades received through CCP are reflected twice – on college and high school transcripts. On both transcripts grades will affect respective GPAs. Low grades can negatively impact potential college admissions and financial aid opportunities. The grade earned in the college course remains a part of a permanent academic record at the college College transfer credits earned through CCP are generally accepted by most major institutions. However, credits are not always guaranteed for transfer toward private or out-of-state institutions. Students should check with institutions of interest regarding transfer prior to CCP enrollment. Students taking CCP courses on campus are responsible for arranging transportation. Students can be liable for tuition/fees The college schedule will be followed when enrolled in college courses on campus or online. Academic content may be deemed more appropriate for a mature student audience.

Eligibility Eligibility requirements align with Ohio Remediation Free Standards Completion of appropriate College Credit Plus application prior to posted deadlines ACT/SAT/COMPASS test results to determine appropriate placement in selected courses Alternative institutional placement procedures are also available based on a review existing secondary student records All data shall be considered that may be an indicator of college readiness Readiness AreaACTSATCOMPASS English Sub Score18 +Writing 430 +Writing Scale 69 Critical Reading Reading Sub Score Reading Scale 88 Mathematics Sub Score Algebra Scale 52

Course Enrollment Limitations The maximum number of CCP credits a student may earn in an academic year is 30 semester credit hours & is calculated as a combination of high school and college credit hours. The maximum number of CCP credits a student may earn over the course of their participation in the program is 120 semester credit hours. School district CCP representative is responsible for monitoring the maximum credit threshold.

Sample Pathway 15 Credit Pathway – equivalent to one full-time college semester 30 Credit Pathway – Equivalent to one full-time academic year of a two-year degree program Represent highest enrollment courses available on campus Focus on Ohio Transfer Module and OBR Transfer Assurance Guide (TAG) courses to maximize transferability.
