2 What is the College Credit Plus Program?
Permits Ohio students in grades 7-12 to earn college credit and high school credit simultaneously Promotes rigorous academic pursuits Provides a variety of options to high school students No cost to students or parents (fees may be incurred if a course is failed)

3 Who is eligible to participate?
Any student enrolled in an Ohio public or nonpublic high school in grades 7 thru 12 Students must meet admission criteria for the specific college or university they are looking to take college courses from Will need to take a placement test (ACT or Accuplacer) and score remediation free Are permitted to take up to 30 college semester hours per year and 120 semester hours total Must still meet all Ohio Graduate Requirements

4 How do you apply? See your high school counselor for necessary forms, information & deadlines Student and parents must engage in counseling with their school counselor to be aware of the risks and consequences, limited funding, & effect on student’s ability to graduate Complete intent to participate form and turn in by April 1st Students must then apply with the individual colleges/universities through which they want to take courses and meet all deadlines

5 What are the timelines? March 1: schools must notify all students of the CC+ Program March 30: School must have an informational meeting for parents and students, inviting representatives from all public universities within 30 miles April 1: all students must notify school of their intent to participate (form) Eligible student may apply and enroll in a college at any time in grades 7-12 Kenyon has had an April 1st deadline for application Most schools have a May 1st deadline for application

6 Additional information
You must be admitted by an eligible post-secondary institution The college may have special requirements you must meet The school uses a formula to determine high school credits earned for college courses (3 semester hours = 1 high school credit) You may attend college full-time or part-time depending on the credits you need to graduate You may take courses offered at Ridgewood for college credit

7 College Courses offered at Ridgewood
Kenyon College- KAP English IV, KAP Advanced Biology Muskingum University- Honors Math, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Spanish 111,112, 211, 212, Intro to Education, Diversity in Education, Education Technology, Fundamentals of Speaking requires an ACT score Stark State College- online courses Requires either ACT or Accuplacer score

COURSES NOT OFFERED AT RIDGEWOOD HIGH SCHOOL TAKE CLASSES THAT ARE ACADEMICALLY CHALLENGING OR THAT INTEREST YOU EXPERIENCE COLLEGE LEVEL WORK & LIFE PRIOR TO MAKING A FINAL DECISION ABOUT GOING GET HELP FROM YOUR HIGH SCHOOL COUNSELOR, TEACHERS & PRINCIPAL IN PLANNING FOR COLLEGE

10 Risks Increased responsibility Reduced time for school activities
Grades & GPA could be affected (no honor roll) Scholarship opportunities could be affected Increased travel and study time Difference in content from high school to college courses No guarantee you will get the courses you want Social discomfort with older students Risks for withdrawal from a course (failure) Still must meet athletic eligibility requirements for sports
