1. FRANKLIN HIGH SCHOOL INFORMATIONAL MEETING FEBRUARY 11 TH 2016

2. PURPOSE Earn college and high school credits at the same time by taking college courses from community colleges or universities Provide a wide variety of options to college-ready students Public universities - free for students* (no cost for tuition, books** or fees) Private colleges or universities- may have limited costs (check with specific institutions) *Students who receive an F will be responsible for reimbursing Franklin City Schools for the cost of the classes they fail. **All books are to be returned to Franklin City Schools at the end of each semester.

3. ELIGIBLE PARTICIPANTS All students grades 7-12 are eligible to apply for College Credit Plus (CCP) admission to a public or participating private college. College will admit students based on college-readiness in one or more subject areas. University determines “college-readiness” Can take up to 30 credit hours per academic year.

4. HIGH SCHOOL CREDIT CCP allows high school students to earn college and high school credit simultaneously. College Credit HoursHigh School Credit 11/3 22/3 31 41 51

5. HIGH SCHOOL GRADES CCP course grades will appear on the high school transcript and College transcript. CCP course grades will be factored into the cumulative GPA/ Class Rank and your College GPA. CCP courses will receive the same grade weight as Advanced Placement/Honors Classes. If student fails a course or drops a course after the withdraw date, the district WILL seek reimbursement from the student for the amount of state funds paid to the college for the course. Books are to be returned at the end of the semester

6. HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS CCP does not replace or alter the requirements to earn a high school diploma. If taking a CCP course to meet a high school graduation requirement, student will not receive diploma until the course is successfully completed. CCP students are still required to take the state- mandated end-of-course exams

7. ATHLETIC ELIGIBILITY If you are a student athlete, you must remain eligible in accordance with the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) bylaws. To be athletically eligible, students must be passing five, one credit courses or the equivalent per grading period with the high school and college courses combined. Most College Credit Plus courses taken during a semester will equal one Carnegie unit, allowing students to earn more than the required five for athletic eligibility. Please check with your counselor to ensure that the course work you are taking is compliant the OHSAA.

9. ACADEMIC & SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Expected to follow rules/regulations set by the college/university and high school Student is responsible for transportation & parking costs Once accepted to a college, student is eligible to receive advising from campus/based support services of that institution Participation in CCP does not guarantee admission to that college after high school. Student must follow regular undergraduate application process

10. AVAILABLE COURSES Once admitted to a college for CCP, students may take any course in the college’s course catalogue that is not remedial or religious; in a subject area in which student is college-ready. Student must be enrolled in at least five classes (between high school and college) to be considered a full-time student. Once enrolled in CCP, students will communicate with their high school counselor and adjust high school courses as needed. The following classes* taught at Franklin HS qualify for CCP credit: AP Calculus, Honors Pre-Calculus, Statistics, Honors English 4, Spanish 3, Spanish 4, AP Spanish, French 3, French 4, Sociology, Psychology, Project Lead the Way Engineering classes *subject to change

11. COLLEGE COURSE TRANSFER Many entry-level courses earned at an Ohio public college are guaranteed to transfer to any other Ohio public college (Ohio’s Transfer to Degree Guarantee) Credits earned at private colleges, or those wanting to transfer to an out-of-state institution will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis by the institution student is seeking to attend https://transfercredit.ohio.gov

12. NEXT STEPS Submit “Intent to Participate” form to the high school guidance office by March 31. ***IMPORTANT*** If you do not turn in an intent to participate form BY MARCH 31 st, YOU CAN NOT PARTICIPATE IN CCP FOR THE ACADEMIC SCHOOL YEAR Contact colleges for information, application forms and criteria for acceptance (check their websites) Communicate with high school counselor regarding high school schedule It’s worth repeating, YOU MUST HAVE YOUR ‘INTENT TO PARTICIPATE FORM’ TO GUIDANCE BY MARCH 31 IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE!
