2 What is College Credit Plus? CCP offers qualified students the opportunity to enroll in Lakeland courses and earn college credit which will also be used to fulfill their high school graduation requirements.

5 Participating Colleges Every publically funded institution of higher education must participate in CCP The same admissions standards have to apply to all students within one IHE IHE’s will vary in their requirements from institution to institution

7 Math at Lakeland All students must pass the Math portion of the COMPASS exam EVEN if they do not want to take Math at LCC Passing = Math 0950 (Intermediate Algebra or Algebra 2) ONLY students who have COMPLETED Algebra 2 and test into Math 1650 are eligible for Math courses at LCC

8 COMPASS Exam at Lakeland Placement exam created by ACT Reading, Writing and Math 1 ½ to 2 hours to complete. (Not timed) Bring a calculator and photo ID Monday – Thursday 8:30 a.m.- 5:30 p.m., Friday 8:30 a.m- 2:00 p.m., Saturdays, 10:30 a.m. Registration is required at www.lakelandcc.edu/CCP click on Schedule CCP Compass Examwww.lakelandcc.edu/CCP Students have three attempts to meet the thresholds Practice questions are available http://www.act.org/compass/sample/

14 How do you select CCP courses? What requirements do you have left for high school graduation? What are your goals? How many college courses are you planning to take?

15 Your Goals and Course Selection Are you hoping to earn your degree? – AA or AS? Will you be taking courses on Lakeland’s campus or at the high school? Is there a program of study you are interested in? Full time or part time? ( 5 courses on your schedule between the two)

16 Course Information Thirty Credit Maximum Per Year – An academic year now begins in the summer – Think about your goal and work with the high school and college to create a plan to get you there. One college course (3CH+) = I HS credit Weighting of courses Athletic Eligibility

17 Funding Model Option A and Option B still exist Option B: First 30 credit hours per eligible student that is taken during the regular academic year is free ( Summer, Fall, Spring) Option A: Student (families) pay for the tuition, books and fees.

20 Criteria for participation Step 1: Attend a high school CCP information session. Step 2: Complete a CCP interest form online Step 3: File a CCP application with Lakeland Community College and an intent to participate to your high school no later than April 1 st. Step 4: Submit high school transcripts.

21 Criteria for participation (Cont’d) Step 5: – Register for COMPASS placement exam and achieve a minimum placement level of ENGL 1110 and MATH 0950, OR, – achieve an ACT minimum score of 18 in English AND 21 in math, OR, – achieve an SAT minimum score of 450 in Critical Reading or 430 on Writing AND 500 in math.

22 Criteria for participation (Cont’d) Step 6: Complete the CCP registration worksheet and bring it with you to the CCP registration/ NSO event Step 7: Attend a CCP registration session. Parents are required to attend with their child.
