Elements of the Comm. Process _______: Encoder, transmits a message. Types of Communication Barriers External: conditions outside the sender and receiver. Environment Noise Appearance Internal: conditions within a sender and receiver. Attitude, motivation, interest Educational background Preferences and/or biases

Overcoming Comm Barriers Receiver responsibilities: Reading: Environment (temp, light, etc.) Clear mind, ignore or illiminate distractions, open to new ideas Listening: Paying attention, interpreting, and providing feedback.
