1. Define the term Mental Disorder A mental disorder is an illness of the mind that can affect the thoughts, feelings, and behaviors of a person. Preventing him or her from leading a happy, healthful and productive life.

3. What distinguishes mental disorders that are classified as organic disorders from those classified as functional disorders? Organic disorders is caused by a physical illness or an injury that affects the brain. A functional disorder has a psychological cause and does not involve brain damage

9. Describe how clinical depression differs from the blues. The blues pass but for people with clinical depression, the feelings of sadness, hopelessness, or despair last for more than a few weeks and interfere with daily interests and activities.

10. List two eating disorders. Anorexia Bulimia

11. What are conduct disorders and give examples (a) A conduct disorder is a pattern of behavior in which the rights of others or basic social rules are violated. (b) Anyone lying, theft, aggression, violence, truancy, fire setting, vandalism.

12. What is schizophrenia? Schizophrenia is a severe mental disorder in which a person loses contact with reality. The person has difficulty understanding the difference between real and imagined events. Symptoms include: hearing voices, delusions of grander, paranoia, generally begins in 16-24 year olds

13. List four ways you can help defeat the social stigma of mental illness. Use respectful language when referring to a person with a mental disorder. Emphasize abilities over limitations. Express disapproval if someone shows disrespect or inconsideration towards people with mental disorders. Encourage people who have emotional problems to seek help.
