Syllabus Coach Jenkins Social Studies 1. Time when students could schedule a conference with teacher Parents can contact the teacher 3-days in advance by note or phone through the office. 2. Course description: Present content that is related to broad-based issues, problems or themes. Integrate multiple disciplines into an area of study. Promote productive, complex, abstract, and higher level thinking skills. 3. Absence policy: The absence policy is in accordance with the school rules. However, the student who misses school and has an excused absence must be responsible for the assigned work or test within one week. 4. Tardy policy: The students are expected to be seated and ready to work when the bell sounds. If you are not seated when the bell rings then you are counted tardy.

Classroom procedures and rules for behavior Students are to follow the mandated school rules and additional classroom rules at all times. The first time a student breaks the rules a warning will be issued by writing their name on the board and will receive checks for breaking the rules. Name = warning = call home or paragraph = remain 1 min, school detention, and call home to parents. = remain 1 min, school detention, and call home, in school suspension. However, if the offense is severe enough, stages may be skipped and you may not get a warning. If you drop below a 59 you will receive a phone call.

No eating, drinking, or tobacco in class. 4. Respect others at all times and if someone is talking do not interrupt. 5. Do your own work, no cheating, and turn in assigned work in on time. Grading Procedure 100-90/89-80/79-70/69-60-59-/ Materials Policy about homework assignments Homework is to be completed and due on time. Late assignments will not be admitted. Field trips and other special activities Only students with at least a “C” average, good attendance, and no discipline referrals may be asked to go on the Field Trips. Class procedures Announcements- no talking during the announcements. Tentative daily schedule The class will begin when the bell rings and does not finish until I release you Class procedures Announcements- no talking during the announcements. Attendance- you must have a Doctors note or parent note upon returning to class. Entering the class- you must enter the class in an orderly manner and complete the bell ringer before the bell rings. Group activities- Hall, Bathroom, and Office Pass- no hall, bathroom, or office pass will be issued, unless an emergency is apparent. Tardy to class- you must be in your seat when the bell rings or you are tardy. Using Manipulative- color pencils, scissors and other tools past out must be used responsibily. Ready to class- bring all need materials to class daily.
