1 Welcome!

2 Respect yourself and others!
THE RULE Respect yourself and others!

3 Daily Procedures Bell work Question every day
Bell work quiz every 2 weeks; can use bell work notes on your quiz! Try to sharpen pencils at the beginning of class– if you need to during class, do so quietly and without interrupting

4 Classroom website WRITE THIS DOWN! putnamscience1.weebly.com
Here you can find the: Class agenda/Homework: Keep in mind that what I say in class will always trump what the online agenda says. Announcements Resources/Documents: this is a section for files that I have uploaded for you to use for study help or HW purposes.

5 Tardy Policy Walk in quietly without disrupting class
If you don’t have a pass, you will receive a unexcused tardy

6 Missing Supplies If you wish to borrow a pen or a pencil, you may take one from the supplies container – no guarantee that there are always some there. You may, at an appropriate time, take homework assignments from the extra copies binder in the front of the room if needed.

7 Discipline Verbal warning-correct Teacher Conference
Parent/Coach Contacted and after school detention Referral to administration Any of these can be bypassed depending on the behavior.

8 Extra Credit Science in the news (10 points)
Various points on assignments

9 Passes I will give passes to you at the appropriate time-you are allowed 3 personal passes per quarter (bathroom and locker) If you want a counselor pass/office pass, see me I will give you one If you feel like you might get sick— LEAVE!!

10 Homework I will collect at the beginning of each class
If a paper is turned into me any later than the beginning of class, it is considered late. Papers without names will be put into the no name paper box. If you see that you have a missing assignment that you know you turned in, check the no name box, write your name on it and turn it back in the absent bin.

11 Late Work Can be turned in late for 60% credit up until the day of the test. You may not work on late work during class or you receive a zero. If an assignment is turned in after we have tested over the material, you will receive 1 completion point.

12 Make-up work If you miss class, check the make-up binder to see what you missed. There should be a sheet filled out with what we did the day you missed. Any assignments that you will need to make- up will be in the binder next to the day you missed. If you miss a lab, you will have 1 week to stay after and make it up. You have two days for every day that you were absent to make-up work.

13 Finishing Early You have several options if you finish a task early:
Read a book of your own Look ahead in the chapters Organize your folders Work on other homework You may not: talk, use your phone/electronics, write notes, or distract others

14 Food We are in a lab, therefore no food is allowed.
Food includes candy, suckers, chips, or any other edible item. Water is allowed. However, on lab days, water will need to be put away.

15 Phones Using your phone in class unless otherwise stated by myself will not be tolerated in class. I will take the phone away, if necessary, and will hold it until the end of class. If it becomes a regular occurrence, I will give it to the office to hold until the end of the day and make a phone call home if needed.

16 Dismissal You are dismissed from class when I tell you it is okay to go. Please do not start packing up to leave until we are finished with the daily activities. The bell ringing is not permission to leave!

17 Last but not least… If you need help, please come and see me! I will be here almost every day after school and want to see you succeed. I look forward to teaching you all!
