3 Lunch You will go to lunch during your 3rd core class
Walk silently down the halls in a single file line Sit at your assigned tables Do not throw away garbage until told to do so You may use the bathroom during lunch with permission

School Zones Green Zone = Device necessary Red Zone = NO DEVICE ALLOWED In the Classroom Green – Have phone out and ready to start class Yellow – have phone in “parking lot” (face down on desk) and wait for instructions Red – Phones are NOT to be out

9 Calculators When you enter the classroom…
Find the sign at the front of the classroom indicating the need for calculator Pink Sign = NO calculators, go to seat. Green Sign = GET a calculator before sitting at your seat

13 Expectations Follow all teacher directions the first time they are asked Remain in your seat at all times unless given permission to move Respect others and yourself, all property, and opinions Be prompt and prepared Raise your hand to speak

Tardy to Class There are NO bells. If the door is closed, you are tardy. If you are tardy, you must sign the tardy sign in sheet BEFORE going to your seat. 1st time: Warning 2nd time: Silent lunch/Parent Contact 3rd time: Period ISS 4th time: Full day ISS 5th time: Referral to admin

18 Entering the Classroom
Enter the classroom in an orderly manner and go directly to your assigned seat Take out your homework place it in the corner of your desk Work quietly on the warm-up problem on the warm-up sheet Write down homework & important announcements in agenda

19 Leaving the Classroom for ANY reason
Ask me if you need go to the bathroom, nurse, or front office by raising your hand. Use the restroom between classes if possible. You may not go to the bathroom during the first or last 10 min of class. Do NOT interrupt me in the middle of a lesson to leave the room unless it is an emergency.

20 Leaving your seat You must raise your hand and ask permission if you want to leave your seat for ANY reason Examples Getting a Tissue Throwing away garbage Sharpening your pencil

21 Homework You will be assigned homework every week.
You may have additional assignments nightly You are expected to complete ALL of the assigned problems and come to class with questions the next day We will go over the homework as a class You will be given a weekly homework grade. No Homework = ZERO HW can not be turned in late.

22 Warm-Ups Warm- up problems will be assigned daily
5 minutes to complete the warm-up Warm- ups sheets will be given out on Monday’s and will be collected and graded each Friday If you are absent on Friday, be sure to hand in your warm- up when you return to school

23 Absent Students If you are absent it is YOUR responsibility to check the absent bin for work. Missing work should be completed and put in math binder. If you are absent on an assessment day, you will make-up the assessment the day you return.

24 Working in Groups All students are expected to show cooperation towards other group members You are expected to use appropriate volume and language. You are expected to take an active, positive role in classroom activities.

25 Using Classroom Supplies
You may borrow classroom supplies with permission Only use the specific calculator that is assigned to you All supplies should be returned exactly where you found them Always clean up after yourself I am not your maid!

26 Class Participation Ask questions if you do not understand
Raise your hand to answer a question Do not call out Speak loudly and clear when asking questions Listen carefully when other classmates are speaking.

27 Dismissal from Class Pack up your supplies when I give you directions to do so. Wait for me to dismiss the class. Push in your chairs, and exit the classroom in an orderly manner.  

28 Organization You are expected to maintain a neat and organized math binder. Notebook will be organized into 5 sections Class information Warm-ups Notes/Classwork Homework Assessments

29 Assessments Types of Assessments
Tests: at the end of each unit Quizzes: one or two per unit Projects: One per quarter Cheating will result in a failing grade & parent contact

30 Grading Policy Math 8 Tests and Projects: 40% Class work: 20%
At least one project per quarter At least 2 tests per quarter Class work: 20% Warm-ups Assignments completed in class Quizzes: 30% At least 2 quizzes per quarter Homework: 10% Checked every day for completion grade

31 Grading Scale A: 90 – 100 B: C: D: F:

32 Test Corrections ALL students will be required to make test corrections for a grade. Students who score below an 70% will be able to bring up their grade to a 70% by completing test corrections.
