English 9th Ms. Belaire Late Work Absent? * Students have ONE day to turn in late assignments where they can earn up to 50% of the earned grade. Any assignments turned in after one day will be a zero. *Any assignment over 100 points will not be accepted after the due date. (NO EXCEPTIONS) * Printer and Internet issues are not an excuse for late work. * YES, WE DID SOMETHING IMPORTANT WHILE YOU WERE ABSENT. * It is the student’s responsibility to check the class website, the unit calendar, or speak with another classmate to find out about any assignments missed. * A student has two extra days to turn in any work assigned on a day a student was absent. Technology -Remind is a messaging app that allows students, parents, and teachers all to communicate in a safe and private manner. I strongly encourage all of my students and parents to download the app and join my Remind class. This allows me to send out reminders for upcoming tests and assignments, and provides a way for students or parents to contact me with questions. To join, to -Unit calendars, class assignments, PowerPoints, and other helpful tools can all be accessed on my website. Plagiarism BATHROOM Plagiarism is the taking ideas and writings of another and passing them off as one’s own. In this class, plagiarism includes… 1. turning in another’s work as one’s own 2. copying work from a friend before class (or while in another class) 3. including a source but failing to cite it 4. copying an author’s exact words and passing them off as one’s own Students caught plagiarizing will be given a ZERO for the assignment. Dear Parents/Guardians: It is very important to me to have open lines of communication with you and also your support in your child’s education. I will have very high expectations for your child in order to have him/her reach his/her full potential. A few things I am asking of you; or as I like to call it, Parent Homework: -If something is not completed in class (because students often work at a different pace), please see to it that your child finishes their assignment at home. -Encourage your son/daughter to read. Not just what we are reading in class, but for pleasure as well. I have a classroom library open to all of my students. -Communicate with me. It is best when teachers and parents are on the same page and I think it is imperative that we support each other. My is you can sign up for Remind (your student will earn extra points if you do!), or you can schedule a conference with me. I look forward to a productive and fun school year with you all! Sincerely, Ms. Ami Belaire ……………………………………………………………………………………………………………… I, ________________________________________, have read and understand the rules and expectations for class. I acknowledge that it is my responsibility to contact my teacher if I have any questions or concerns. I know that this syllabus, assignments, calendars, and resources are available to me on the Google Classroom at any time. I know that assignments can be submitted digitally at any time and that printer/computer/flash drive issues are not an excuse for late work.
