Name _____________________________Date _____________Line ________ Science Website: Access homework assignments, quizzes/tests, review, etc. You will be learning a great deal this year. This class will be a combination of lecture, projects, and hands on activities. In order to be successful in this class you must abide by the rules and be cooperative. Behavior At all times you are expected to be respectful to the teacher as well as your peers. If at any time you become disrespectful in any way or break a rule consistently, a phone call will be made to your parent or guardian informing them of the problem. Further action will be taken if the problem is not solved. GENERAL RULES: 1. Please stay in your seat at all times unless you ask permission (this even includes sharpening a pencil or throwing away a tissue!) 2. Speak RESPECTFULLY to the teacher as well as your peers 3. Please do not have ANY side conversations that are not academically related 4. Respect school property 5. Keep the room clean meaning: Clean up after a lab or activity, do not eat or drink, and do not throw anything onto the floor or around the room (including paper) 6. NO ELECTRONIC DEVICES ARE PERMITTED DURING CLASS! TOC (Table of Contents) Binders You are required to purchase a 3 ring 1.5 inch binder. This will be your notebook for the class. They will be labeled with a table of contents and checked on test days for a participation grade. A copy of the binder will be kept in the room with a complete table of contents if you are absent or missing work. There is NO excuse for an incomplete notebook

“Do Now” When you arrive in the room, there will either be directions on the board for you to take something out, get something ready, or answer a question of the day. It is expected that as the bell rings, you are ready for class. Quizzes and Tests Quizzes are given occasionally to assess a specific topic. These quizzes will be approximately 10 questions and will cover something that has recently been discussed. You will receive 1-2 days notice for a quiz. Quizzes are generally worth 20 points. Tests are given upon the completion of a unit. Tests are worth more than quizzes but may or may not be 100 points. You will receive 3-4 days notice of an upcoming test. Grading Each assignment has a point value. These points will be added up and 4 grades are determined. Each of these grades is weighted equally: Homework - 20% Tests and quizzes - 30% Class-work assignments - 30% Other Assignments (projects, notebook checks, participation) - 20% Leiker Loot Assignments Leiker Loot assignments are extra credit assignments. They will be posted in the Leiker Loot folder and are optional. There will be approximately 2-3 Leiker Loot assignments available per month. The due date will be posted on the assignment. It will NOT be accepted after that date. If the assignment is satisfactory you will receive Leiker Loot. This Leiker Loot can be exchanged for 10 bonus points on any assignment that you were not satisfied with the grade. Therefore, if you receive a 75 on a test, you can exchange Leiker Loot to receive an 85.

Homework Homework is given about 1 to 3 times a week. When homework is given it is expected the next day, or on the due date provided. Homework is not usually long and takes between 5 and 30 minutes to complete. When you come to class on the day a homework assignment was due, place it in the correct labeled bin for your class. LATE HOMEWORK - Late homework is always accepted if you were absent the day it is due. If you were present and did not hand in the homework you may still hand it in, but you will lose half the credit. If the assignment has already been handed back, it will no longer be accepted and counts as a zero. Do not copy homework, it will not be accepted. Absences If you are absent, you are still responsible for the work/notes done that day. There will be folders in the room with the days of the week written on them and the work will be in that folder. You must take the work out, put it in your binder, and record it in the table of contents. If it was an assignment, it must be completed to earn credit. It is your responsibility to find out what was covered in your absence. The room binder is always available. *Engrade and Text Alerts You will receive an access code that will allow you to view your grade at any time. These will be passed out within the first week of school and directions will be given as to logging on. You may sign up for text alerts. The teacher will send out alerts to remind you of tests, quizzes, or other important due dates. TO SIGN UP: to (note: this is NOT the teacher’s phone number)
