1 Classroom Procedures and Expectations
Biology S- Track Spring 2019 Classroom Procedures and Expectations Mrs. Pardo

2 Biology Notebook Will consist of a three ring binder, a pocket folder, and filler paper. Should be used for BIOLOGY ONLY! Date the page every day. All work should be placed in the binder IN DATE ORDER.

3 Pens and Pencils Sharpen pencils BEFORE class
Only dark blue and black ink are allowed I will not grade assignments turned in in other colors = F I DO NOT give out pens and pencils

4 Grading MP3 & MP4: Major Assessments- 50% Homework- 25%
Other Minor Assessments- 25% Final Grade: MP3 & MP4 Average- 80% Final Exam- 20%

5 Homework Homework is assigned every night to reinforce concepts taught in class and will be reviewed the following day. Homework is graded based on completion and effort. Collected home work will be graded with effort, completion, and correctness. If you are absent it is your responsibility to make up missed assignments within two days. No late work will be accepted!

6 Paper Heading All assignments must include: Name Date
No date on paper = -5 points No name = -5 points Papers turned in with ridges will not be graded = F Name Date Block Science Questions

7 If you are late… If you have a pass, put it on the front desk and go directly to your seat. Do Not disrupt the class! 2 lates = 3 days detention 4 lates = 1 day ACS 6 lates = 2 days ACS and loss of course credit

8 Late Work Not accepted

9 Make-up Work 2 days for each day absence
The absent work will be in a folder by the window. Copy objective, Do Now, and any notes you missed from a reliable classmate.

10 Cheating- Don’t Do It! Quizzes and Tests: No talking
If you are talking I will assume you are cheating. Cheating = zero for the quiz or test Cheating = zero!!

11 Bathroom It is important for you to be in class.
Try to go during locker room time, lunch, or in between classes. DO NOT ask to use the bathroom while I am teaching/instructing the class (I will say no!)

12 Daily Class Procedure No food or drinks ALLOWED!
If you eat or drink in class you will receive ACS Be ready to start class when the bell rings (that means you must be in your seat doing the Do Now) Date your notebook Copy down the day’s objective Write down your hw -Do Now (will be posted on the board and may be located on front desk). -Class Notes – teacher will put necessary definitions, notation, and guided examples on the board, this should go in your notes!! -Class work -Closure – Answer any questions, assign homework.

13 Emergency Procedures:
Fire drill- NO talking while walking! Lockdown- NO talking! Lockout- on the floor under the windows. NO talking! Evacuation- exit when instructed by administration.

14 Expectations You will arrive on time every day, and be ready to begin when the bell rings. You will be prepared for class daily (notebook, pen/pencil, homework). You will raise your hand to speak, leave your seat, etc. You will NOT eat, drink, or chew gum in the biology classroom. You will follow all JFK High School policies (i.e. no cell phones, plagiarism, etc.) You will treat everyone in the classroom with respect.

15 Extra Help Available every morning , but must ask for a pass!
