So, What is 8 th grade science?

Chemistry First and Second Quarters Atoms, atoms everywhere….The Periodic Table Chemicals Lab Experiments Reactions Acids, Bases, Solutions

Physics Third and Fourth Quarters Speed, Motion, Force Buoyancy, Flight Cars, Planes, Rockets, Roller Coasters Energy Transformations Radiation

YOU NNo matter what career you choose or path you take, your daily life will involve chemistry and physics.

Supplies   3 ring binder or paper folder (no spiral notebooks) and paper   pencils and sharpener with a shavings catcher   black or dark blue ink pens   hi-lighters   fifty 3x5 note cards   four quarter sized poster boards   calculator   graph paper

40% Labs 100 pts Notebook Checks 100 pts Projects 100 pts. AR Tests on any Science or Science Fiction Book

Tests Once a week Based on the science notebook Make-up tests are given on Wednesdays during 4 th period or on any regular test day. A zero is recorded until the test is made-up.

Redo Tests If you make a 79 or below on the test you may redo it. Highest you can make on a redo is an 80. The two grades are averaged. Specific redos are given on Thursdays during 4th period.

Science Notebook All pages are collected every test day. If you are absent keep the pages until you take the make-up. Pages must be done in pencil or black/blue ink only. No other colors will be accepted.

AR BOOKS Read any AR science or science fiction book. Take the AR test on it from you language arts class. Bring the AR test to science class for a grade. 1 st quarter: 2 books 2 nd quarter: 1 book 3 rd quarter: 1 book 4 th quarter: 1 book

Projects 100 points May be turned in early. 10 points off for each day it’s late.
