Business Correspondence Word 3 - Notes

Project Resume – contains an applicant’s personal information, educational background, and job experience Cover Letter – enables you to elaborate on positive points in your resume Fax – An image of a document made by electronic scanning and transmitted as data Memo – A written message Calendar - A chart or series of pages showing the days, weeks, and months of a particular year

Tab Stops Tab Stop – is a location on the horizontal ruler that tells Word where to position the insertion point when you press the TAB key

Formatting Clear formatting – refers to returning the formatting to Normal style Building Block – where you store frequently uses text or graphics

Formatting Non-breaking Space – is a special space character that prevents two words from splitting if the first word falls at the end of a line Non-breaking hyphen – is a special space character that prevents two words separated by a hyphen from splitting at the end of a line

Tables Table – is a collection of rows and columns Cell – intersection of a row and a column Dimension – the total number of rows and columns required

Template Template – is similar to a form of pre-written text Content Control – contains instructions for filling in the areas of a template

Copying and Pasting Source document – items are copied FROM Destination document – items are copied TO

Parts of a Letter Letterhead – who from Date – written or mailed Inside Address – where to Salutation - greeting Body - information Complimentary Close – goodbye greeting Signature Block – Your signature and Name typed

Letter Format Block Letter Semi-Modified Block Letter All information is aligned to the left margin Semi-Modified Block Letter Date, complimentary close and signature block are aligned at 3.5” All body paragraphs are indented .5”
