Think of someone you would describe as “healthy Think of someone you would describe as “healthy.” What traits do they have that would identify them as healthy? Discuss your thoughts with your neighbor.

Health and Wellness Health– combination of physical, mental/emotional, and social well-being. **Not just the absence of disease. Wellness– a state of well-being or balanced health over a long period of time.

Physical Health Refers to how well your body functions. Keep fit by getting regular exercise. Eat a well-balanced diet. Maintain your ideal weight. Practice good grooming habits. Avoid tobacco, alcohol, and drugs. Get plenty of rest.

Mental Health Involves your feelings and emotions- how you feel about yourself; health of your mind Thinking positively. Express your feelings in a healthy way. Develop your thinking and decision-making skills. Strive to learn new information. Learn how to handle stress Asking for help when needed.

Social Health How well you get along with others; health of relationships Get along with family members. Make and keep friends or building relationships. Communicating and working well with others. Having/showing respect for others.
