Physical – the condition of your body Mental/Emotional – your thoughts, feelings and emotion Social – the way you relate to others SOCIAL PHYSICAL MENTAL/EMOTIONAL

The Health Triangle Good grooming habits Good decision making skills Talks about feelings Exercise MENTAL/EMOTIONAL Eat a well-balanced diet PHYSICAL Handle stress Like who you are Get plenty of rest SOCIAL Strives to learn new information Able to make and keep friends Giving and getting Support when it is needed Get along with my family Work well with others Able to disagree with others without fighting

5 Three equal sides means the three areas of health are equally cared for.
Unequal sides means the three areas of health are not equally cared for.

6 Maintaining A Healthy Balance
To be truly healthy you need to work on keeping your triangle balanced. Nobody’s health triangle is perfectly balanced all the time. A healthy person is aware enough to know when one side starts go get out of balance. SOCIAL PHYSICAL MENTAL/EMOTIONAL

Prevent illness Prevent injury Know your weak areas of health triangle and work on them

9 GOOD HEALTH HABITS = WELLNESS
One of the first ways to achieve a high level of physical, mental/emotional, and social health is to take a look at your health habits in each of those areas. Harmful habits may lead to illness or injury. Ignoring your health may lead to illness or injury. It is much easier to start a good habit now than to have to change a bad habit later.

Self image also how you think others view you It is important to your overall health to have a clear picture of yourself If a person likes him/herself they will have a good self-esteem Then others will be able to like and respect them Self-Esteem – the ability to like and respect yourself

High self-esteem … you like and respect yourself Self confidence Security … feel safe Aware of being loved and valued Able to bounce back after disappointment
