2 BALANCE! HEALTH = The combination of physical, mental, emotional, and social well-being When your health is balanced, you have a high degree of WELLNESS… An overall state of well-being or total health

4 Physical Refers to the absence of disease and overall conditions of the body Impacted by a person’s level of physical activity, eating habits, frequency of medical checkups and the practice of self-care.

6 Five Tips for Physical Health
Eat nutritious meals and drink eight cups of water each day. Engage in 30 to 60 minutes of physical activity every day. Get eight to ten hours of sleep each night. Avoid the use of tobacco, alcohol, and other drugs. Bathe daily, and floss and brush your teeth every day.

7 Mental The ability to gain new information and make sound decisions.
Impacted by the desire for lifelong learning, the development of strong values, and rational decision making.

9 Emotional Refers primarily to an individual’s feelings of self-worth and the confidence to communicate his or her needs and values to others. Impacted by the development of positive self-esteem, and the skills to manage stress.

Mental/emotional health is about your feelings and thoughts. It’s a reflection of: How you feel about yourself. How you meet the demands of your daily life. How you cope with the problems that occur in your life.

Characteristics of Mentally and Emotionally Healthy People Enjoy challenges. Accept responsibility for their actions. Have a sense of control over their lives. Can express their emotions in appropriate ways. Usually can deal with life’s stresses and frustrations. Have a positive outlook. Make thoughtful and responsible decisions.

Maintaining healthy relationships is one way of caring for your social health.
