Meeting new teachers and aides and the variety of classes. I enjoyed everything about the Distance Learning Lab. Professor Beyer was wonderful. Students participating in class discussions with other sites. I always enjoy the other students. It gives students the ability to take subjects that are not offered at our school. What did you dislike about the Distance Learning experience? ______________________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________________ Some schools are too far away making the transfer of books and other materials difficult. Some of the technical problems and calendar differences with different BOCES and districts. Seeing students and teachers drinking and/or eating during class. Unnecessary talking from students during class. Teacher not acknowledging students at the remote site. Inappropriate remarks from other students over the network. Seeing students on cell phones and computers during class and the teacher says nothing. What changes would you offer to improve the DL program? ______________________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________________ All students should have a way to contact their teacher privately. Email or phone numbers should be provided. Some classes are now emailing the tests so that we can print them out on the computer. They are very clear. When they were faxed, the images were poor. Prerequisites should be placed into effect for some classes as well as grade level requirements. A student’s character as well as maturity level needs to be considered when considering that student for placement in a DL class. Cell phone and computer usage during class should be addressed. Teachers and Aides that will be working together should have the opportunity to meet and get to know each other better at the beginning of the school year. DL is a great experience for the students.
