What did you like about the Distance Learning experience? ______________________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________________ It was interesting to have student viewpoints from kids I don’t have and to see the interaction among the groups. The interaction between most students, the closeness of students in the room, students get a chance to take a class not offered at Moriah. Interacting with teachers and students from other sites. I enjoy working with the teachers and students and the whole DL system staff. Every year new classes - kids enjoy being here, the people I work with. It was nice to work with teachers from other schools, and to see our students interact with other students. We had a very good year overall. I think it is amazing.

What did you dislike about the Distance Learning experience? ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________________ Some teachers were less organized than others, and didn't inform me about class plans, this made my job more difficult. It is very difficult to involve the reluctant student at an off site. At times not given enough time to get materials for a project, some schools don't let us know when they will be off. The fact that our students were allowed to drop classes without our Guidance Office contacting the teacher of the classes. Not having some of the teachers come to the classroom. We only had a face-to-face meeting with our teacher once. The teacher failed to let students know that they should take notes during movies, and did not provide any outline for the students to follow. Nothing. Is there anything to dislike?

Everyone was very helpful when we needed them. I always spoke with someone right away. The problem was always fixed immediately. Great technical support team! Absolutely, no hesitation at all. They were very helpful. I had no need to call. 4. Did you feel comfortable calling the DL toll free number for technical support? All those who responded said,“Yes, I did.” Comments:

Were you satisfied with the assistance of the BOCES support team? E-tech provided superior support. Issues were addressed and resolved to satisfaction every time. Always a great support team. Above and beyond. Very satisfied. Very much. Absolutely. Always. All those who responded said,“Yes, I was satisfied.” Comments:

What changes would you offer to improve the DL program? ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________________ We, as the TA's, should all have a day where we get together so we are on the same page on procedures, etc. If possible, have the host teacher visit and teach at the receiving schools. It made a difference in my classes when the host teacher taught our students as well. More balanced class section sizes between the schools having 3 students here to the other school’s 17 or so was hard. More computers for students to do their projects/assignments on, keep classes no more than 10 students a site. The larger classes seem to spend too much time talking and fooling around. 10 to a room is enough. It seemed like one particular school had no aide in the room, they were sometimes rude to the teacher. Maybe offer more classes for the students or adults at the schools.

General Comments ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________________ It seemed that there were a lot of volume control issues with sites. I needed to "play" with the volumes, especially in classes where the teacher was new. Materials prepared well in advance by the host site teachers for distribution were helpful. I enjoyed being a part of the 4 classes I have had since February, my favorite was the Holocaust. Hope to be able to do more next year! We need a better system for me to contact the host teachers. Some do not have phones in the room and I cannot speak to them when I need to. At the start of the year we had too many students scheduled in our room. Only the seniors were allowed to stay. Had the selection been made based instead on merit, I think we would have had a more involved class.
