Team 7-1 Science, 2 nd Semester Review of some basic policies and procedures

Please Note  This presentation does not include all policies and procedures; it is intended as a brief review of some important ones for daily use.  A full set of policies and procedures was covered in August, and can be reviewed in the team letter and school handbook signed at that time.  If you don’t remember or are unsure about a policy or procedure, please ask a teacher.

Hallway behavior  Noise level 2 (only the people next to you can hear you clearly)  No horseplay or running  Walk to your right

Tutorials  Each teacher has official tutorial days and times. See your tutorial pass for those times.  Dever – Tues AM, Thurs PM  Sign in and out of the logbook for tutorials.  If you need to see me outside of official tutorials, come see me before or after class to make arrangements at least 1 day in advance.

Starting class  Check the poster outside my door for needed materials, and bring them to class – EVERYDAY your supplies will include at least a pencil and paper.  Line up in the hallway when you are ready for class (before the bell). Face forward in single file, at volume level 1. When I start giving directions, volume level 0.  When the door closes, you are tardy if you are not in the room.  When you go into class, sit in your assigned seat, copy the objective and warmup into the first section of your spiral notebook, and do the warmup. If you finish early, compare your warmup with those around you and discuss it, or read/work on classwork.

Leaving class  Leaving after the bell (for supplies, items left in your locker, bathroom, etc.)  Sign out and back in  Take a hall pass (and bring it back)  For every minute you are gone, come back to my room at the end of enrichment to make it up or go over what you missed.

Missed work during an absence  If you are absent the day an assignment is given, you have 3 days to make up the assignment without penalty.  Absences longer than 1 day will result in an extended “grace” period. See me to determine due dates.  It is YOUR responsibility to see me before or after class to find out what you missed.  Labs, tests, and quizzes can only be made up in tutorials. Extra days may be added to make this possible – confirm the deadline with me.

Late work  If an assignment is turned in after it is due, the following penalties apply:  Same day late -5 points  1-3 days late -10 points per day  4-10 days late -50  After 10 days, late work will not be accepted

Headings  All papers turned in for a grade (unless specified at the time of assignment), should have the following heading in the upper right corner:  Name (first and last)  Date  Period  A penalty of -5 points will result from incomplete or incorrectly placed heading  Papers without names will be discarded without grading.

Correcting low grades  Minor grades – can be corrected in tutorials or at home  If the assignment was late, it can not be corrected.  Brainpops – can be done online and submitted through or in print; you must make a 100 on the corrected quiz for a 70.  Other minor grades can be corrected by copying every missed question, answering them correctly, and providing either a page number the answer is found on, or an explanation of why that is the correct answer. Staple this page to the original assignment and turn it back in for a 70.  Alternate assignments are available during Thursday tutorials for those wishing to replace a grade, IF YOU DO NOT HAVE ANY MISSING ASSIGNMENTS  Major grades – must be corrected in tutorials or enrichment  can be corrected by copying every missed question, answering them correctly, and providing either a page number the answer is found on, or an explanation of why that is the correct answer. Staple this page to the original assignment and turn it back in for a 70.  3 30-minute tutorials and an alternate test can be done if you want a chance to raise it higher than a 70.  This option is open to everyone, even if you passed the original test.

PLEASE SIGN UP FOR REMIND  to 81010
