5 Homework Homework is assigned almost every day; however, time will usually be given to begin homework in class. Any work not completed in class should be completed at home. Typically, homework is worth 4 or 5 points per homework packet. Homework for each chapter will be collected on the day after the test. Late work will be accepted, but will be lowered one letter grade for each day it is late. The homework grade will also include periodic 3-question pop quizzes that are typically worth 6 points each. Homework must be completed in its entirety to earn credit. Incorrect work and answers must be corrected to earn credit. No credit will be given for merely writing down the answer; you must show your work to earn full credit. Homework that is messy and/or illegible will not earn full credit. Graphs should be done on graph paper using a straight edge. Inaccurate or tiny graphs will not earn any credit.

6 Absences It is your responsibility to find out what work was done during your absence and to make it up. You have one day for each day of excused absence to make up any missed work. 7 Additional Rules Class begins promptly when the tardy bell rings. You should be in your seat when the bell rings, and your materials should be on your desk. Chronic tardiness will result in a lowered citizenship grade. Ask for permission to leave the classroom for any reason, and sign out on the sheet at the side of the room. Repeated requests to leave the classroom will be denied. Absent extraordinary circumstances, a student is allowed to leave the room during class no more than twice per quarter. Food and drinks are permitted not permitted in the classroom; however, any student who comes at lunch for extra help can eat lunch in the classroom. Be respectful. Sleeping in class, excessive talking, off-task behavior, defiance, and disrespect of the teacher or fellow students will not be tolerated. Visible cell phones, ipods, and headphones will be confiscated and delivered to the dean.

8 Cheating Poicy Cheating will not be tolerated. Any student caught cheating will be subject to the penalties described in the discipline matrix published in the student handbook. Each student will sign a document entitled “Test and Quiz Policies” and will be subject to its terms.

9 Office Hours I am available to help any student on most days either at lunch or in the morning before first period. I am usually in the classroom by 7:00 am. Students are encouraged to let me know the day before if they want to meet me before class. You can eat your lunch in class if you wish while we review, and you are encouraged to come in as often as you need to, even if it’s only for 10 minutes.
