The Patriarchs of Israel  The Hebrews were a semi-nomadic tribe of people that originated in Mesopotamia  According to the Bible and the Torah, Abraham migrated from Ur in Mesopotamia to Canaan, in modern Israel  Abraham, his son Isaac, and his son Jacob believed in one god named Jehovah, who promised a new homeland to them
