-Fazhah Covenant -Promise made to Abraham saying that he could have Canaan (homeland)

5 Ancient Israelites Moses (1400 b.c.) -Famine forced the Israelites
to Egypt where they were enslaved. Moses helped them escape back to Canaan. It had taken 40 years.

6 Israel established David -Second King of Israel.
-United the separate tribes of Israel into one kingdom Solomon (David's son) -was given the task of making Jerusalem into the capital of Israel. Also negotiated with neighboring empires

7 Israel suffers division
Solomon Dies -High taxes and slavery causes Israel to revolt which lead to the division of Israel. Israel in the north and Judah in the south.

8 Israel suffers division
Israel remained independent for about 200 years. Eventually they were conquered by more powerful empires.

9 Laws and morals of Judaism
Patriarchal -Men were leaders of the household. Women had little to no legal rights

10 Ten commandments Though shall not kill. Etc. Sabbaths
- day of rest and worship

11 Ethical worldview Prophets
- people such as Abraham who emerged and reminded the Jews of duties Ethics moral standards

12 Jews maintain beliefs Diaspora
Scattered around the known world They resettled with other Jews and kept their culture intact
