8th Grade Science Fremont Junior High Code of Conduct 8th Grade Science Fremont Junior High

Show Respect Everyone has the right to learn in a safe environment. The teacher has the right to teach and manage the classroom. Students have the right to ask and answer questions. Both teacher & student have the right to be treated with fairness & respect.

To show respect you should… BE ON TIME Stay in assigned seat unless you have permission to move/ get up Participate in lessons and class discussion BE ON TASK Give your best effort

Respect Looks & Sounds like… Only one person speaks at a time Raise your hand and wait to be called on Do not call out Student contributions to the class discussion are to enhance the understanding of the science topic being discussed and are not to cause a distraction or disrupt the learning process.  Respect Looks & Sounds like…

Show respect when working with others Use manners and show courtesy Avoid put-downs Work for the common good of the class Topics and word choice must be appropriate for class Tone of voice is appropriate, showing respect

Work Appropriately The teacher will let you know if an assignment is to be done independently or with a partner(s): When you are assigned to work alone, you may not talk to your neighbors during this time.                      If you are working with a partner, the volume of your voice should be low enough so that only the people at your table can hear you. If you can be heard at another table group or across the room... you are too loud. When assigned to work with a partner, you must be talking about the assignment…not distracted with social issues.

Respect the Classroom Water bottles are encouraged, but must have a cap and be used appropriately. No other drinks will be permitted. Chew and dispose of gum responsibly.

Respect the Health of Others Some students and teachers have allergies & asthma and are sensitive to fragrances. Please use personal care products with scents after class when outside. Do NOT spray or apply these kinds of products in the classroom as it causes major disruption to the classroom.

Follow Directions Follow verbal directions the first time given. Read and follow directions on assignments and labs. Use all materials and equipment as directed. Follow all science safety guidelines.

Follow School Rules All rules that are outlined in the district & school handbook apply in classroom regarding conduct, possessions, dress code, etc. Refer to those pages in your planner if you have any questions.
