WELCOME TO WORLD HISTORY  The objective of this course is to understand the development of our “world community” through examining events, which shaped the present world, and to identify common trends connecting all peoples and nations together. These trends have impacted history and identifying them is a critical part in the development of the students understanding of the world around them; thus, preparing them for their future as participating members of a global community.

MRS. VALENTINE 29 + years of experience  FAMILY:married for 32 years, 2 children, 4 sisters, 1 brother and many other relatives  Native of Eustis, Fl. for 56 years  EDUCATION: attended Eustis Vocational grades 1-6; Eustis High School grades 7-12; Florida A and M University for 4 years with a Bachelors of Science degree in Social Sciences.  Certified in the Social Sciences, Gifted and Reading

EVALUATION and GRADES Evaluation: Grades will be based on:  Test  Projects  Reports  Daily Assignments  Quizzes  Class participation  Homework GRADING SCALE:  =A  80-89=B  70-79=C  60-69=D  0-59=F Semester Exams: Count as 10% of the semester’s final grade.

GUIDELINES AND POLICIES Homework Policy: Late Work: Students are assigned homework at least once a week. Students are given daily assignments in class, which should be completed in class. If not, this assignment becomes homework, unless otherwise specified by the teacher. Late work will not be accepted unless the student has an excused absence from that previous day and the student was not aware of the assignment prior to the absence.

APPOINTMENT TIMES Availability:Study/Help Time: Telephone #  Days Available M/T/TR/F  Time Available  8:00 A.M.- 8:30 A.M. by appointment Students are always welcome to come in any morning before school for instructional help scheduled by an appointment time. (8:35-8:55) Students making less than 70% on a test will be allowed a retake up to 3 days after the test has been given, before school. The 2 grades will be added jointly and divided by 2 for the final grade.
