1 Coach Thomas US History Government

2 Objective The student will be able to read maps, identify places on a map, identify the different events that have occurred and place the events in proper order. The student will also be able to explain how these different events have effected the growth and prosperity here in the history of the United States. The student will be required to do presentations by powerpoints and photo story 3 and a video.

3 Procedures The student will come in the class and sharpen pencil prior to the bell ringing. Don’t wait for the bell to ring because the bell does not start the class the teacher does. The student will begin work on the bell ringer. The bell ringer will be located on the board. The student will have 5 minutes to do so. The bell ringer will be checked. Occasionally, the bell ringer will be taken up for a pop test. The teacher will then begin the daily lesson. Class is over when the teacher releases you, not when the bell rings.

4 Materials Pencil or pen (blue or black ink only) Paper
Binder (no spiral notebook) You will need to have a flash drive Anything else that will be needed the teacher will tell you within a week ahead of time.

5 U.S. History/ US Government online textbook
Steps to access textbook 1. log onto MOODLE ( 2. log in using your username and password that you use for the schools computer 3. scroll down and look on the right for ConnectEd and click on (DO NOT click onto the class) 4. Find the correct textbook and click on

6 Website There will be assignments and other things located on the website.

7 Grading Scale 85 – 92 = B 75 – 84 = C 67 – 74 = D 66 – below = F

8 Evaluation will be based on quizzes, tests, projects, oral and written assignments, map work, and class discussions. All chapters are required reading. There will also be outside readings. Evaluation grades break down into 80% tests and quizzes, class/homework, and participation, and 20% exam. All work is due on the assigned day, no excuses!

9 Classroom Rules Be respectful of others and their property.
Raise hand and be recognized before speaking. Be prompt and go quietly to your seat, ready to work when the bell rings. Bring all materials to class. If the student is absent, they are required to make up the work within 3 days of returning back to class. The teacher is not required to tell the student and to constantly remind the student that he/she has work that needs to be made up.
