3 CLASSROOM MATERIALS Textbook – Algebra 1, Holt Pens and Pencils Spiral notebook Lined and graph paper Binder Reminder 3-ring notebook with dividers Ruler Calculator (for use later in the course)

4 HOMEWORK POLICY Must be done in pencil, NO EXCEPTIONS. Will be assigned daily and is generally due at the beginning of class the following day. Each homework assignment is designed to reinforce the day’s lesson or current unit of study. In case of verified absence, it is the responsibility of the student to ask for the missed assignments. The number of days allotted to hand in make-up work is equal to the number of days the student was verified absent from class. Homework is checked and stamped daily for completion and accuracy and recorded weekly (HW Log turned in on Friday). Unexcused late work is accepted one day after the due date and is worth a maximum of 50%. Homework is posted daily on the school’s website for additional access.

5 GRADING POLICY Homework and Classwork (30%) –Each homework assignment is worth 4 points. –Homework is acceptable when all problems have been attempted and all work, in pencil, is shown. Quizzes, Tests, Projects (70%) –One or two tests will be given per chapter. –Quizzes will be given as needed for test preparation.

6 GRADING SCALE A = 90 – 100% B = 80 – 89% C = 70 – 79% D = 60 – 69% F = 0 – 59%

7 GRADE UPDATES Grades are updated weekly on Zangle Please check your progress regularly and obtain additional help when necessary.

8 CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS Be respectful – towards yourself and others and their personal property. Use polite words and good manners. Be responsible – take charge of your learning. Always try your best! Be prepared - Be in assigned seat before the tardy bell rings with appropriate learning materials each day. Be kind to the environment – keep the classroom clean by finishing all food/drinks before entering the classroom.

9 REWARDS Students who respect and follow the classroom expectations will receive: –Classroom acknowledgements –Positive home contact –Eligibility for school-wide events

10 CONSEQUENCES Students who choose not to adhere to the classroom expectations may be subject to one or more of the following: –1 st violation: name on board  warning –2 nd violation: one check after name  write paragraph once –3 rd violation: two checks after name  30-minute detention –4 th violation: three checks after name  60-minute detention and parent contact –5 th violation: four checks after name  Wednesday Work Study –6 th violation: five checks after name  Referral to the Administration
