Introduction Why LinkedIn? LinkedIn is the world's largest professional network with 200 million members in 200 countries and territories around the globe. According to 2012 Jobvite Social Recruiting Survey, LinkedIn remains the dominant recruiting network, used by 93% of respondents.

Introduction Step-by-step plan for getting started on LinkedIn. 1. Build and complete your profile Log in and begin working on the content of your profile. 2. Connect with others Use the LinkedIn tools to help grow your network 3. Contribute Add value to your connections, endorse them, write recommendations 4. Broadcast Join groups, begin discussions, add your profile to resume/business cards

Setting Up Your Profile You have the option to share that you’ve joined LinkedIn on Facebook and Twitter. We suggest skipping this step.

Setting Up Your Profile LinkedIn is FREE. They do have an option to upgrade to their Premium level which gives some additional benefits.

Key points on your profile –Begin adding your information. –Be sure to click save. –LinkedIn will automatically go on to the next subject area. –This information is always editable.

Key points on your profile Five levels of profile strength: 1) Just beginning 2) Intermediate 3) Advanced 4) Expert 5) All Star When you reach the All Star level your profile is 100% complete. At the All Star level you can click on the link below the profile strength and “share your profile” on either Facebook or Twitter. It will be posted with the message, “Check out my professional profile and connect with me on LinkedIn.”

Job Search Get job leads by: –Searching for a company you’d like to work for –See if any of your connections works there –Make a connection!

Select the company you’re looking for from the drop down Type company name into search box.

On the company’s page, see how you’re connected

Click on Careers to see jobs currently available at this company

Job Search Other ways to find jobs: –Click on Jobs tab –Type your keyword/job title into the search box –Or do an Advanced Search –See if your connections can connect you to that job for an inside introduction

Click on Jobs tab Type in job title, keywords, or a company name

Or for a more detailed search, click on advanced search
