Class Rules 1. Respect yourself, classmates, and teachers. 2. Follow directions immediately. 3. Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself. 4. Work during all work times. 5. Arrive with all your materials.

Conduct and Work Habits Clipboard If you break a rule, you will be given 1 warning. After the first warning, you will receive a mark 1 mark = 2 minutes off recess All marks will be written in planner at the end of day and will be checked for a parent signature the next day. No marks at end of day the class manager will put a smiley face/stamp/sticker in your planner. After 2 weeks, if you have a 100 in conduct and work habits, you can earn a Gold Card

Gold Cards Earning a Gold Card Losing a Gold Card You must have a 100 (no marks) in Conduct and Work Habits for 2 weeks Losing a Gold Card Example: If you receive a mark, I will have to clip a corner off of your Gold Card. When all corners are clipped, you will lose your Gold Card and will have to try to earn one again.

Gold Cards Benefits of having a Gold Card You get to choose 3 coupons from the coupon book as soon as you earn your card First in line First to leave at dismissal No penalty for taking extra restroom breaks or getting drinks of water from the water fountain during independent work time Opportunity to be a class manager Help with taking out the recycling

Morning Procedures

Morning Work begins at 7:45 a.m. Get to School on Time! If it is after 8 a.m., YOU are late! Morning Work begins at 7:45 a.m.

Eating Breakfast If you are going to eat breakfast at school, you must eat BEFORE you come to class. You may NOT talk to your friends in the hall and then ask to go eat.– Drop off your back pack and go straight to the cafeteria! They might be doing something with breakfast times so I’ll wait to update this until the change is final

Daily Procedures

Voice Levels 0 – Silent, no talking at all 1 – Whisper that can be heard by immediate neighbors only 2 – Quiet speaking voice that can heard in a small group 3 – Regular, classroom discussion voice 4 – Presentation voice, speaking to a group 5 – Recess/outside voice

Before the 8:00am Bell 1. Unpack your backpack and place it on your hook. (This will be the ONLY time you may go into your backpack) 2. Open your planner to the correct date and place it on the corner of your desk 3. Trade out pencils for a sharp one 4. Get water 5. Go to the restroom 6. Start your morning work .

After 8:00a.m. Listen to announcements! Stop whatever you are doing Voice Level 0 Stand and listen respectfully during pledges and moment of silence When pledges are over, sit down When announcements are over, continue with morning work Show any notes in your agenda/planner to me Put anything you need to give to me from home in the Drop Box Working on morning work Get coupons, if earned Morning show might change to afternoon show …. Might have to update this one

Classroom Signals - “ R ” for restroom - “ T ” for tissue “ 5 ” to ask the teacher a question or comment during direct instruction – The teacher may or may not call on you. - “ R ” for restroom - “ W ” for water - “ T ” for tissue Maybe make a poster for beginning of year ***Instead of raising your hand and waiting for a teacher to call on you, you will use these hand signals so the teacher doesn’t have to stop teaching. - for pencil (raise your pencil in your hand)

Restroom Procedures First, do your business Level 1 voice to communicate respect or ask for help, otherwise level 0 Use soap and water to wash your hands Share any restroom problems with the restroom monitor or adult Help keep our restrooms safe and clean

Water Procedures Drink water in the morning before 8:10AM Use hand signals to ask during class Walk quietly to the water fountain One person at a time-no line Drink on a count of 5 seconds Quickly and quietly return to your seat and continue working You may have a water bottle. It must be kept on the floor beside your desk. You may refill it during restroom breaks. Gold cards may refill it during independent work time if needed.

Pencils The class managers and the teacher are the only people to use the pencil sharpener. Trade out dull pencils for sharp pencils before 8:00 a.m. If your pencil breaks: Raise your pencil in the air and I will bring you a new one. Trade a pencil

Paper Notebook (lined) paper is on the shelf by the door. You may get paper as you need it. If it is during class, you need to ask permission. On every assignment, your heading should have: Name Date Number Title Have poster up with example of heading for papers

Walking in Line Wait to line up until instructed to do so Number order – Gold Cards first Walk quietly - Voice Level 0 Arms at your side Stand directly behind the person in front of you – straight line! Stopping points

Homework Reading every night for 30 minutes – complete reading log and turn in with a parent signature on Friday – Get those AR points! Complete the spelling spiral assignment for the night Study Vocabulary words Math homework daily – Occasionally you will have science, social studies and ELA/Writing homework Record your homework assignments in your planner each day If homework is missing or incomplete, you will receive a work habits (-10) for each daily assignment incomplete

Absent … Now what? The class managers will complete a while you were out form and place it in the absent folder. It’s YOUR responsibility to check the folder and with the teacher if you were absent and/or have any questions. You have 3 days for each day you were absent to make up the work

Backpacks With permission, get your backpack from your hook at the end of the day Return to your seat Begin packing your backpack with agenda/planner and homework folder Wait to be dismissed

Leaving for the Day Adios Cheerio! Goodbye See you later! Walkers , After School Program, Car Riders – Walk to the end of the third grade hallway and sit in your designated line until you are dismissed Bus riders – Find your bus number in the 3rd/4th grade hall. Sit quietly under your number and face forward until you are dismissed Daycare – Find your Daycare sign at the end of the 4th grade hall. Sit quietly under your sign and face forward until you are dismissed Goodbye See you later! Cheerio! Adios
