-3 Main Classroom Procedures Daily obj: I can identify a literary element or reading strategy by creating a poster about it and explaining it to an audience. -3 Main Classroom Procedures When the bell rings, you need to be sitting in your seat working on the warm up. Do not ask to use the restroom in the first 10 minutes of class or the last 10 minutes of class. The bell does not dismiss you, everyone needs to be seated before you are dismissed by me.

Let’s review literary elements and reading strategies. Daily obj: I can identify a literary element or reading strategy by creating a poster about it and explaining it to an audience. Let’s review literary elements and reading strategies. Take a minute to brainstorm a list of literary elements and reading strategies on a sheet of paper.

Daily obj: I can identify a literary element or reading strategy by creating a poster about it and explaining it to an audience. You will be creating a literary review poster with a small group. Your poster should include the literary element or reading strategy, it’s definition, and an EXAMPLE that you would see IN A TEXT. Your poster should be neat, colorful, and easy to read from around the room. You have 15 minutes. THIS WILL BE A GRADE!!!

ALL team members need to speak during the presentation Daily obj: I can identify a literary element or reading strategy by creating a poster about it and explaining it to an audience. The presentations – ALL team members need to speak during the presentation Speak with a good volume and clearly Make sure you are facing the audience Try your best not to simply read off the poster Your presentation should take no more than 1 minute.

Reviewing the Class Information – You need to have a book to read in class EVERY DAY starting TOMORROW! This is a requirement. It can be a book you are reading at home, it can be a book from the library, it could be A Long Walk to Water… Our first Novel study will be The Outsiders. Purchasing the book is not required, but you do need to get a copy from the library as soon as possible. You will have homework almost every night. It’s usually reading or studying vocabulary. There is an accountability piece for the reading. You will have several writing assignments per unit. Read Theory will be a weekly grade (you will need to complete 5 quizzes per week. More on that later) You will have weekly vocabulary quizzes and about 1 major vocab test per quarter. Formal assignments will include: Essays, projects, and tests

Exit Ticket: Please write down 2 things I should know about you and Language Arts. How do you work best, do you like language arts, etc. Write down one question that you have for me about language arts. I can answer these privately, if needed. Write down the homework: Complete school forms – money can be turned in online. Bring an Independent reading book TOMORROW.
