Welcome!

2 Classroom expectations
Be respectful of others and listen when they are talking. Do not talk out of turn. Keep all cell phones turned off and stowed away unless I instruct you otherwise. Raise your hand if you have a question that relates to the lesson. Keep your language polite and clean. Remain in your assigned seat unless you have been given permission to move. 4 Materials (aka: tools for success)
Respect your property and the property of others. We will be using textbooks and novels in this class. Please treat them respect so that everyone can use them. Come prepared for class everyday. You need a pencil, composition notebook, and your binder.

5 Raising hands Procedure
Raise your hand if you have a question or would like to contribute to the discussion. Only ask questions or make statements that relate to the lesson. Respect other’s opinions. You may not agree with their view and that’s okay!

6 Promptness is proper Come to class on time.
If you are late, make sure you have a pass. Promptness is proper

7 Assigned seats procedure
The seat you are in now is your assigned seat unless I move you. We will be doing group work at times. Do not move to another group unless I move you. Assigned seats procedure

8 When you first come into class, there will be a kickoff on the SmartBoard. You come into class, have a seat, and begin working on your Kickoff. You will be given approximately 3 minutes to work on the Kickoff. Work quietly on your Kickoff. Once you finish, please sit quietly to give others a chance to finish their Kickoffs. Kickoffs

9 If you finish your Kickoff early, you can do one of the following:
Read your library book. Work on homework for another class. Check out a book from my class library. Kickoffs continued

10 Restroom policy There will be designated times where you will be allowed to go to the restroom outside of class. Because of this, you will have 4 bathroom passes per quarter. They will be worth 2 extra credit points a piece to be added on at the end of the quarter. How many extra credit points could you have?

11 Enter the classroom in orderly fashion. Walk; don’t run.
Don’t horseplay. We will leave and enter again. When you enter into the classroom, go to your desk and start on your Kickoff. Do not stand at a friend’s desk and socialize. Sharpen your pencil only at the beginning of class. If you are afraid that your pencil will need to be sharpened in the middle of class, then sharpen more than one pencil at the beginning. 12 When the bell rings, I will dismiss you
When the bell rings, I will dismiss you. Do not get up and start leaving as soon as the bell rings. Walk out of the classroom in an orderly fashion. Don’t run. Throw all trash away as you are leaving. Exiting room policy

13 Keep desk area clean. This includes the floor around your desk.
Be respectful of your area. Do not throw trash and paper on the floor. Do not get up to throw trash away in the middle of a lesson. Wait until the end of class and throw your trash away as you are leaving. Desk area
