2. Bring these things to class:
Your writing notebook
Your binder or folder
A pen (with blue or black ink) or a pencil
Your novel on Fridays
If you don’t have these things, you are not prepared for class.

3. You will pass this class if you try.

4. Seating Chart
We’ll try letting you sit where you want to, but we need to have assigned seats to make things more efficient.
Sit where you want to tomorrow. That will be your assigned seat.
If I have to move someone, that will affect other people too. Sorry.

5. Jobs You will be seated mostly in groups of four.
Each group member will have an assigned job. The jobs are:
Attendance Secretary
Take attendance for your group.
Report absences to Mr. Duyck.
Absent Student Caretaker
Take notes and collect papers for anyone absent from your group.
Collect materials for your group.
Conservation Officer
Make sure your area is cleaned up at end of class.
Report any problems to Mr. Duyck
Participation Encourager
Check that all students are prepared for class.
Help group members stay positive and on-task.

6. Some Rules Don’t interrupt class.
Stay in your seat when anyone is addressing the class.
You may have snacks in class if it doesn’t interrupt class and if you clean up any mess. (No food is allowed in the library or computer labs.)
The only drink allowed is water in a clear container. This is a school rule.
Clean up after yourself.
Use the bathroom during your breaks. If you must use the bathroom during class, ask for the pass and don’t interrupt class.
Be quiet in the hall during class time.
At the end of class, stay by your seat until the bell rings.
Be quiet for announcements.

The midterm and final benchmark exams count for 10% of Trimester 2 and Trimester 3.

After we look at book reviews on Friday, list the title and author of at least five books.
