5 Keys To Success With LinkedIn Create a profile that presells prospects for you Join, Grow and Participate in groups filled with your ideal audience Grow your network and engage your connections Attract the right people to contact you Take the conversation offline and do business

Needed To Start Professional Photo Headline – What do you do that brings value? Summary – What is your prospects biggest problem How do you solve that problem Rich Media – articles and videos Be complete Content – blog posts and this is why you need a website

Profile Image Professional – but personal (not a logo) But not stuffy People will not connect with people with no photo Optional: Add a background image 1584 x 396 From Home Page – Click on name to the left Click on Edit icon Click on Edit icon for profile photo or background image

Headline Do not make this the name of your company Make a compelling statement that will create interest Can be more than one statement separated by a pipe “|” Example: Five Minute Marketing Success | Online Marketing Help | Small Business Marketing Support

Profile Summary Summary needs to let people know what you can do for them – should be the same About on other social media sites First sentence will be displayed and needs to state the problem you solve Include Keywords Not a resume Include links, images and videos – but don’t overdo

Experience Add relevant work experience Education Include keywords in the description Link to your website Education Include any special training you have done for your profession Volunteer Information

Work on Getting Recommended

Edit Public Profile Edit Public url Edit Visibility Contact and Personal Info Create links to other social media sites Add Phone Number

Connecting

Levels of Connections 1st – direct connection 2nd – connected to someone you are connected to – 6 degrees of Kevin Bacon 3rd – in the same group More on groups later

Recommended Connections People you know In your city Avoid connections with no photo Click on name for profile Connect They must accept before it is in effect In your profession Members of organizations you belong to Good referral sources

Accept Connections Accept via email Within LinkedIn – My Network Accept or Ignore

People You May Know While you are on your network Review People You May Know and connect Invite – people who are on your email list but are not on LinkedIn Connect – People on LinkedIn that are connected to people you have connected with

People Who Viewed Your Profile From Home Page – left side Show you who the views are Shows how long ago they viewed Can only view first 3 without a paid subscription

Search For Local Contacts Click in Search Box Search for People Locations To future narrow search – use All Filters Add a personal note as to why you would like to connect

Messaging – Making The Connection

Sending Messages Give Value Best time to connect Right after they accepted your connection Right after you accept their invitation When they are online Create a dialog – don’t just assume that some is interested in what you have to offer

Bad Example A part time opening is available . I just thought to let you know that that I and three of my friends have been active participants for months You work less than five hours weekly This helps to have fun, relax and add extra income at no cost No work experience in marketing or research is required and it doesnt affect your full time job If you find this useful. You may refer another friend You can find full info here >> http://rcsindustrialcleaning.co.za/bit

Better Good Day Sue Do you like to shop? Would you like to be paid to shop? I work with the parks department in North Myrtle Beach and came across a very interesting part-time employment opportunity that might peak your interest. Link here Reply to the message if this sounds interesting

Techniques Ask questions – don’t assume If they are in your city – suggest meeting for coffee – you want to know more about THEIR business – not sell Invite them to local networking events

Posting Posts should be about business Posts can be short snippets But not selling Posts can be short snippets Articles Images Videos

Engagement Create a schedule and be consistent 2-3 times per week Share and comment on your connections post Participate in Groups More in another video

Write An Article Great way to establish creditability Could be a variation of your blog post Can add links back to your website Format the same way you would a blog post Will me seen by your connections

LinkedIn Groups

Finding Groups Look for groups in your city, profession or interest Search by keyword More Groups Click on name of group It will say Member or Ask to Join

Explore Group Read what others are posting Like posts of interest Post comments Connect with the writer – mention the group

Create Group Click on Groups from the Work Icon Select Groups Click on My Groups Create Group Complete the Group Profile page Use the description section to state who the group is for and any ground rules

Group Engagement Send Messages to connections to Join the group Start posting to the group Use other social media platforms to invite people to the group

Final Thoughts Spend 15 – 30 minutes on LinkedIn 2-3 times each week Make new connections Bring value with your posts – do not sell Connect locally – make it a habit to reach out to 2-3 local business owners with an offer for coffee or to stop by their place of business or invite them to network. Be professional at all times
