Ms. Alderson’s Superheroes 2nd Grade 770-578-7200 Kawanna.Alderson@cobbk12.org Ms. Alderson’s Superheroes Week of September 19, 2016 WEEKLY HOMEWORK A Peek at Our Week Reading: Understanding Characters, Setting, and Plot We will use information gained from the illustrations and words in a text to demonstrate understanding of its characters, setting, or plot. MON Read 20 minutes Practice counting coin combinations at home (using real coins) TUE Read 20 minutes Practice S.O.S. for the weekly words (says, very, are) Math: Problem Solving with Money We will learn how to solve word problems using quarters, dimes, nickels, and pennies. WED Read 20 minutes Complete the Working with Words Sort (Hard and Soft C Sort) Writing: Editing Personal Narratives This will be our last week working on our personal narratives. We will finish up by publishing our favorite and best piece. We will add a cover page, an all about the author page, a back “blurb, and add details/color to our illustrations. THU Read 20 minutes Complete Money Word Problems handout Science/SS/Health: Matter We will identify the characteristics of the three common states of matter (solid, liquid, gas) and how they change. EXTRAS Enjoy your Fall Break and don’t forget to read 20 minutes every night! We can find the clues in the words or sentences surrounding the unknown word. Hard vs Soft C Sound If the letter after the “c” is i, e, or y the “c” make the /s/ sound (soft). If it’s any other letter, the “c” makes the /k/ sound (hard).
