Ms. Taylor 2nd Grade Ms. Taylor’s Sailors Week of September 11, 2017 A Peek at Our Week WEEKLY HOMEWORK Reading: Retelling We will learn how to describe the overall structure of a story, including describing how the beginning introduces the story, the middle provides the major events and challenges, and the ending concludes the actions. Writing Choose a writing prompt from the September calendar Math: Problem Solving We will use addition and subtraction strategies to solve one step word problems within 20. Math IXL Go to Greg Tang Math on our class links page and then click on resources – word problems to generate and practice word problems. Writing: Personal Narratives We will use all that we have learned about small moments to edit, revise, and begin new personal narratives. Spelling Read for 20 minutes (every day) Choose an activity from the September Spellers Choice Activities Social Studies: Civic/ Government Understandings We will define the concept of government and the need for rules and laws. We will also identify elected officials of the executive branch and where they work.
