2nd Grade Ms. Taylor’s Sailors Week of May 7, 2018 A Peek at Our Week WEEKLY HOMEWORK Reading: Compare and Contrast We will learn how to compare and contrast the most important points presented by two texts on the same topic. Writing Choose a writing prompt from the May writing calendar Spend time editing/ revising once you have finished your piece Math: 1 and 2 Step Word Problems We will review how to use addition and subtraction strategies to solve one and two step word problems within 100. Math Writing: Informational Writing We will review how to write an informational writing piece by writing our All About 2nd Grade books that will be shared at the end of the year party. These books will include a table of contents, informational pages, all about the author page, and favorite memory page. IXL Spelling Choose an activity from the May Speller’s Choice activity sheet Reading Raz Kids Social Studies: Economics We will learn that because of scarcity, people must make choices that result in opportunity cost. S.S./ Science Review the Economics Study Guide Class Blog: Spelling & Word Study Spelling/ Reading Rule Language Skill Mark Your Calendar There will be no more spelling rules the rest of the year. There will be no more language skills the rest of the year. May 9 – Field Day (wear blue class t-shirts) May 14 – We are switching our lunch time today – lunch will be from 12:03 – 12:33 Book Fair visit – 10:00 – 10:30 (send your child with money if you’d like) May 15 – School wide STEM Day (wear black STEM shirts) May 17 – “Sailor”bration (9:00 – 10:30/ Parents are invited – bring “fast pass” Weekly Words There will be no more weekly words the rest of the year.
