2nd Grade Ms. Alderson’s Superheroes Week of February 5, 2018 WEEKLY HOMEWORK A Peek at Our Week Reading: Fairy Tales and Folktales We will learn how to compare and contrast two or more versions of the same story by different authors or from different cultures. Also, we will notice the differences in the point of view of the characters. Writing Choose a writing prompt from the February writing calendar Choose an activity from the February challenge board Math IXL Use the “Word Problem Practice” link to practice solving one and two-step problems within 100 Math: Word Problems We will learn how to use addition and subtraction strategies to solve one and two-step word problems within 100. Spelling Choose an activity from the February Speller’s Choice activity sheet S.O.S with weekly words: more, really, said Writing: Opinion Writing We will learn how to write an opinion piece in which we introduce the topic, state an opinion, supply reason that support the opinion, use linking words, and provide a concluding statement. Reading Read for 20 minutes and retell the events of the story in order Raz-kids Read the Jackie Robinson study guide Read the Juliette Gordon Low study guide Science/SS/Health: Civil Rights We will finish learning about the contributions of Jackie Robinson and begin to identify and describe the contributions of Juliette Gordon Low. Science/Social Studies Class Blog: Spelling & Word Study Spelling Pattern Controlled r Language Skill Mark Your Calendar An r-controlled vowel is a vowel followed by an r.
