Ms. Taylor 2nd Grade Ms. Taylor’s Sailors Week of January 22, 2018 A Peek at Our Week WEEKLY HOMEWORK Reading: Compare and Contrasts We will learn how to compare and contrasts two or more versions of the same story by different authors or from different cultures. Writing Choose a writing prompt from the January writing calendar Spend time editing/ revising once you have finished your piece Math: 1 and 2 Step Word Problems We will learn how to use addition and subtraction strategies to solve 1 and 2 step word problems within 100. Math IXL Play “Learn to Count Money” using the link on our class page (count to $10) Writing: Opinion Writing We will learn how to write an opinion piece by introducing the topic, stating an opinion, supplying reasons that support the opinion, using linking words and providing a closing statement. Spelling Choose an activity from the January Speller’s Choice activity sheet S.O.S for the weekly words – over, want, even Read aloud for 20 minutes – practice retelling the story (introduce the characters and setting, include important details and the problem, and tell how the problem was solved) Raz Kids Reading Science: Civil Rights We will identify and describe the contributions of Jackie Robinson and how he adapted or was influenced by his environment.
