2nd Grade Ms. Taylor’s Sailors Week of March 27, 2017 A Peek at Our Week WEEKLY HOMEWORK Reading: Asking and Answering Questions We will learn how to ask and answer questions such as who, what, when, where, why, and how to demonstrate understanding of key details in an informational text. MON Greg Tang March Mathness! Read for 20 minutes Math: Geometry (2D/ 3D Shapes) We will identify triangles, quadrilaterals, pentagons, hexagons, and cubes. We will also recognize and draw shapes that have specified attributes, such as a given number of angles or given number or equal faces. TUE Greg Tang March Mathness! Read for 20 minutes Writing: Personal Narratives We will write personal narratives and focus on small moments when we write. Great writers magnify their small moments by adding details. WED S.O.S for our weekly sight words – usually, really, and favorite Read for 20 minutes THU Health: Accident Prevention We will compare and contrast accident prevention strategies to use in activities/ sports and identify safe and unsafe places to play in the home, school, and neighborhood. Practice math facts to 20 (+ and -) Read for 20 minutes EXTRAS Read 20 minutes March Writing Calendar/ Challenge Calendar Practice math facts within 20 Student’s Name: _____________________________ Parent’s Signature: ___________________________ Spelling & Word Study Language Skill Spelling Pattern Mark Your Calendar Syllable Division VCCV words are usually divided between the consonants where both parts are closed-therefore making the vowels short. VC CV Ex: rabbit = rab bit victim = vic tim Context Clues We will use clues to help us find the meaning of an unknown word.
