STATION 1~Universal Designs for Learning (UDL)

AUDIENCE It’s extremely vital to get as many people in the community as possible out to this Great Community Event. Bright colored poster boards will be printed and place around the borders of the tent. An individual will be present at the entrance of the tent giving away balloons to children attending the stations with their parents. Individuals that visits all three stations will be given a buy one buffet get one free coupon to one of the best local family owned restaurants in town.

INFORMATION The most essential information attendees should know about UDL and its importance to Pre-K – 12 grade students will be on display at this particular station on poster board. Attendees should also know that the core components of UDL is the multiple means of representation, expression, and engagement. UDL is for all students and takes all learning needs into consideration.

DEMONSTRATE Demonstrating UDL in action would give attendees a better understanding of what UDL is all about. There will be a CAST video playing on a monitor to viewing for all attendees. There will also be samples of instructional plans for attendees to view. These will plans will be designed in a way to fit all students in the classroom and also show the importance of incorporating technology in the classroom.

DIFFERENTIATION UDL has a great impact on teaching a learning for the population of PreK- 12grade, everyone benefits when designs incorporate the needs of every user has become known as universal design. UDL extends this concept to education by applying advances in the understanding of how the brain processes information to the design of curricula that accommodate diverse learning needs. UDL incorporates and supports many current research-based approaches to teaching and learning. UDL Principles enhances learning by providing differentiated learning opportunities

INTERACTION Attendees will be able to interact in this station by the use of Headphones, iPads, Smartboards, tablets, and laptops with wifi. There will also be a Game console available so that attendee will become familiar with gamification in the classroom through the use of technology. This will increase their interest and appreciation for educational use of technology by actually being able to use this technology hands on and actually understanding first hand how learning can take place in or outside of the classroom through technology rather than traditional paper and pencil.

Station 2: Technology and UDL for All Learners

MISSION, BELIEFS & GOALS The Mission of the Harnett County School district is to guarantee student success through the implantation of technology in classrooms to ensure graduation and give students a positive opportunity to a successful career path. The Harnett County School District believes that every student is capable of learning. Goals~ To warrant each student the opportunity to engage in evocative opportunities throughout their education experience Pre-Kindergarten to senior year in high school. Another goal is to provide students with necessary tools for graduation and prepare them to be productive citizens in a global and competitive workplace. Other goals include providing teachers the opportunity to increase their knowledge as well as continue education course to exceed the standards needed to have successful students.

COURSES & PROGRAMS Programs and Courses offered in the school district will include technology and impact all 3 levels of learners and school environments that to serve as examples include, but are not limited to: ~Elementary- ELA, Math, and Science ~Middle School- Computer Programming Drama Course, Engineering, and Agricultural and Environment Systems ~High School- Career Technology Education, Digital Imaging and Design, Marketing, Co-Op, Accounting, and Early Childhood Education.

Station 3: 21 st Century Skills Acquisition and Employability

TECHNOLOGY AND 21 ST CENTURY SKILLS  Specific Course- Digital Imaging and Design  Life and Career Skills- Students ill learn the skills and principles involved in the development and function of advertising and the production process.  Learning and Innovation Skills-Students will apply aesthetic theories and technical skills to graphic design objectives.  Information, Media, and Technology Skills- Students will be trained to operate a press and bindery equipment. Students will learn to operate a digital camera, use of image editing program.  Key Subjects and 21 st Century Themes-Elements covered are design, illustration, typography, computer graphics, advertising techniques, and preparation of camera ready copy for print materials.

TOOLS  A Nikon d3500 will be present at this station also used in the course of Specific Course- Digital Imaging and Design. There will be a presenter showing the camera and its many different uses.

INTERACTION  Attendees will interact with the information and tool presented at this station by taking a photo and having a photo taken of them, edited, and printed on scene. This will increase their interest and appreciation for educational use of technology because not only are they receiving a free photo but they are also seeing the process of taking the photo and watching the photo being edited.

NEW TECHNOLOGY The school and community programs, courses, and students will benefit from upgraded technology from this approved bond in so many ways. The ability for students to be able to operate different types of technology over time with increase tremendously. Students will also benefit through the transition of a modern 21 st century world and technology taking over. Students will be knowledgeable and ready for a competitive and global workplace because of their advance knowledge of technology. Other benefits include the sense of diversity created within the student body to enhance their creativity and innovations.
