2 Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Station 1 Universal Design for Learning is creating a environment whether classroom or learning center, curriculum, and using materials to give the best possible instructions for all students and individuals. Understanding no one child or adult learns the same and using that by offering multiple choices an options to all students and adults to engage and interest them. Giving options for different information approaches by presenting information in different ways. Erasing all barriers and giving student and adults control over their learning by having a classroom environment and curriculum that can be used and clearly understood by all students and adults. The UDL approach to learning will give students and adults more ability and control to make their learning more successful. Students and adults will no longer be stuck in a one size fits all approach, each teacher will have the ability to customize the learning experience using multiple different methods to the student instead of having the student try and customize and struggle to meet the standards and instruction. UDL benefits all students with or without disabilities, using UDL will allow for all students to be engaged, collaborative, interactive, and use a hands on approach in their own learning. UDL allows for successful learning in a rapid changing society. References CAST. (2010, January 6). UDL at a glance [Video file]. Retrieved from http://youtu.be/bDvKnY0g6e4UDL at a glance Edyburn, D. Giving attendees the option to experience UDL and DI first hand through technology will give them a clear and confident understanding of how multiple option availability while learning can make a student very successful in their own learning. How having individualized learning activities gives students and adults the means to discover and explore while gaining mastery of skills needed for critical thinking and real world problem solving. Technology is one of the many great ways we can use UDL and DI with all of the multiple means of representation offered such as games, apps, audio, videos, slides, etc… Reference Meyer, A., Rose, D., & Gordon, D.
