2 Universal Design for Learning Designed as a blue print, a not one-size- fits all approach to learning

3 UDL lesson plans Goals are set: what is the lesson and end goal Methods are explained : how will the lesson be presented Materials are presented and used: lecture, technology, worksheets Assessments are given: what have the students learned and take with them

4 Kindergarten through 12 th grade and beyond Technology allows for a broader lesson plan Teacher involvement allows for instruction as well as observation Hands-on experiences Individual and group activities to reinforce learning

5 Differentiation and UDL Needs are met for every student through differentiation, or the varying of how to present and learn new materials For example: visual learners use videos and written words to learn Hands-on learners are able to participate in experiments auditory learners are able to listen to instruction via teacher or other listening devices

10 21 st century skills acquisition and employability Learning and innovation skills are key to individuals being prepared and ready for a life in the 21 st century of fasting paced, technologically savvy individuals. Creativity, critical thinking, communication, and collaboration are the future (P21, 2015).
