STATION 1 Universal Design for Learning (UDL)

DISCUSS HOW YOU WILL GET THE AUDIENCES ATTENTION TO VISIT THIS STATION. WHAT MIGHT THE STATION LOOK LIKE OR INCLUDE TO DRAW PEOPLE TO IT  I will get the audience ‘s attention to visit this station by putting a large poster board in front with some pictures of some old outdated technology and some up-to-date technology that states: “This is Where We Use to be & This is Where We Want to be”  To Draw Community members to the station I will have informational brochures with a student volunteer passing them out.  The station will also have an old outdated computer along with a new up-to-date computer on the table so that the school district, parents, students and community members can see the difference in the two. There will also be some free refreshments as well as different activities to help everyone learn about UDL. The different activities will include various examples of how the classroom and the community center will support all of their learners the same with UDL.  The station will also have 4 teachers that teach different grade levels to answer any questions that people may have about UDL.

DESCRIBE THE MOST ESSENTIAL INFORMATION ATTENDEES SHOULD KNOW ABOUT UDL AND HOW IT SPECIFICALLY PRETAINS TO THE POPULATION OF PRE-KINDERGARTEN THROUGH 12 TH GRADE STUDENTS IN THE SCHOOL DISTRICT OR THE ADULT LEARNERS AT THE COMMUNITY CENTER  UDL is designed to help all diverse students to have access to the curriculum as well as helping them to achieve academic status equally  UDL is designed to help and assist students with diverse cultures, intelligences, aptitudes, interests and learning styles to be able to achieve academic achievement  UDL supports those students who are gifted, have learning disabilities, and those students who are English Language Learners (ELL).  UDL meets the needs inside and outside the classrooms  UDL has teaching strategies that allow all students to learn by hearing, seeing, applying, and interacting  UDL helps all students with various means of engagement, representation, and action and expression  UDL minimizes the need for modifications in the classroom because it accommodates and includes all learners

DISCUSS HOW WOULD YOU DEMONSTRATE UDL IN ACTION. FOR EXAMPLE WOULD YOU INCLUDE A VIDEO OF IT BEING MODELED, A SAMPLE INSTRUCTIONAL PLAN, OR AN EXAMPLE OF A RESOURCE OR SOURCE TECHNOLOGY THAT SUPPORTS UDL To demonstrate UDL in action I would include a video of it being modeled. There are several videos on YouTube that show UDL being modeled

DISCUSS THE IMPACT UDL HAS ON TEACHING AND LEARNING FOR THE SPECIFIC POPULATION OF PK THROUGH 12 TH GRADE STUDENTS AT THE SCHOOL DISTRICT OR ADULT LEARNERS AT THE COMMUNITY CENTER IN YOUR DISCUSSION. INCLUDE HOW INCORPORATING UDLPRINCIPLES ENHANCES LEARNING BY PROVIDING DIFFERENTIATED LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES. UDL has a great impact on teaching and learning for the students of PK through 12 th grades. It helps teachers to solve problems and deal with challenges before they happen because it’s principles require it’s teachers to come up with instruction to benefit all types of learners because no two students are alike, they all learn at different paces. UDL also eliminates learning barriers before they even occur.

DESCRIPE HOW ATTENDEES COULD INTERACT IN THIS STATION. HOW MIGHT THIS INCREASE THEIR INTEREST AND APPRECIATION FOR EDUCATIONAL USE OF TECHNOLOGY? In this station, the attendees can increase their interest in a question and answer session with the qualified teachers from the different grade levels. They can also interact with teaching strategies that actually use technology that applies UDL principles. Some examples are that the qualified teachers from the different grade levels can show them how these different technologies such as I Pads and websites are used in the classroom and how UDL is supported by these different forms of technology.

STATION 2 Technology and UDL for All Learners

MISSION, BELIEF, AND GOALS: CRAFT AN ORIGINAL MISSION AND BELIEF STATEMENT FOR YOUR SCHOOL DISTRICT OR COMMUNITY CENTERS AS IT PRETAINS TO TECHNOLOGY INTEGRATION AND CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION(CTE). DESCRIBE HOW INFORMATION, MEDIA, AND TECHNOLOGY SKILLS (ICT) LITERACY OUTCOMES ICT LITERACY OUTCOMES ARE ADDRESSED, SPECIFICALLY FOR APPLYING TECHNOLOGY EFFECTIVELY, AND HOW SUCH APPLICATIONS WILL SUPPORT FUTURE EMPLOYABILITY. 21ST-CENTURY SKILLSINFORMATION, MEDIA, AND TECHNOLOGY SKILLS (ICT) LITERACY OUTCOMES ICT LITERACY ONE SPECIFIC COURSE FROM THE COURSE OFFERED LIST THAT INTEGRATES TECHNOLOGY IS: MATHEMATICS WITH SPECIALIZTION AREA IN COMPUTER SCIENCE 21 ST CENTURY SKILLS THAT STUDENTS SHOULD GAIN AS A RESULT OF PARTICIPATING IN THE COURSE:  COMPUTER SCIENCE WILL HELP THE STUDENTS TO THINK CRITICALLY THROUGH DATA ANALYSIS  COMPUTER SCIENCE IS CONSIDERED TO BE A UNIVERSAL SKILL THEREFORE IT WILL HELP STUDENTS TO LEARN GLOBAL AWARENESS  MOST 21 ST CENTURY CAREER SKILLS REQUIRE STUDENTS TO HAVE COMPUTER KNOWLEDGE

TOOLS: INCLUDE AN ADDITIONAL EXAMPLE OF A TECH/DIGITAL TOOL USED IN ONE OR MORE COURSES  DIGITAL BOOKS/E-READERS  I PADS  SMART BOARDS  COMPUTERS  IMAGES  VIDEOS

INTERACTION: DESCRIBE HOW ATTENDEES MIGHT INTERACT WITH THE INFORMATION AND TOOL PRESENTED AT THIS STATION. HOW MIGHT THIS INCREASE THEIR INTEREST AND APPRECIATION FOR EDUCATIONAL USE OF TECHNOLOGY? There are a lot of ways to show the attendees interaction with the information and tools presented at this station. The first thing that can be done is to let them interact with some of the different tools that are actually used in the classroom for the inst5ruction that support these technologies. The attendees should be able to have hands on interaction with I pads, e- readers, computers, and ect. So that they can have a keen appreciation for the different types of technology and give their support of technology to the school district and community.

NEW TECHNOLOGY: DISCUSS HOW SCHOOL OR COMMUNITY PROGRAMS, COURSES, AND STUDENTS WOULD BENEFIT FROM UPGRADED TECHNOLOGY FROM APPROVED BOND. The schools in the district, the community programs, courses, and students will benefit from upgraded technology from approved bond in many ways. To begin with, it will create reliable tools to help improve students motivation as well as their academic progress while giving students the best quality of education. It will also help students to be able to learn from other cultures. The students will also be able to learn real world situations that they can use in college and the work place. The school district and the community center is in dire need of upgraded technology and as a Community Center Representative, I hope that the community has received enough information to know that we want better for the future of our children and that they vote in favor of the technology bond. Thank you..
