What will we be doing this year?

What are the rules in Mr. Gilliam’s class? Lets look at the syllabus (and my awesome Memes!)

Classroom Guidelines #1 Bring ALL books and materials to class and take them with you when you leave.

Classroom Guidelines #2 Treat each person in this room with respect and dignity. Don’t be disruptive!

Classroom Guidelines #3 Be in your assigned seat and working on the assigned bell work when the tardy bell rings.

Classroom Guidelines #4 No food or drinks! School policy forbids it, with the exception of WATER

Classroom Guidelines #5 IF you finish early do not sleep or socialize! Work on World History assignments, read an approved book, or study.

Classroom Guidelines #6 Pop Quiz: Who dismisses class? The Bell……or…..Mr. Gilliam? Mr. Gilliam>>>>>>>>Bell

Classroom Guidelines #7 Follow all procedures and policies as outlined in the WCHS handbook.

Special Guidelines This classroom is a “No Whining Zone”. That means that there will be no whining, for ANY reason. Everything that I do is in your best interest, so please…respect the “No Whining Zone” this semester.

Severe Clause Any student who uses profanity, fights, damages school property (this includes the property of the teacher and other students), or is disrespectful (as defined by the teacher) will be sent to the office IMMEDIATELY.

What Not To Do… Talk while I am talking Talk loudly or excessively Leave trash on/around your desk Leave supplies out/waste them Start packing up prior to the bell

Attendance You are only allowed to miss EIGHT days/semester You only have 48 hours to bring in a note from home in order for your absence to be Excused

Entering the room Please enter quietly Have a seat Take out your materials Review the agenda Begin bell work assignment or watch student news

Getting your attention I will: Stand in front of the class Raise my Hand Clap Once, Clap Twice Begin speaking

After an excused absence Look online or on the assignment board to see what you missed. Copy the homework Retrieve any handouts No make-up work for unexcused absences ✓ Make-up tests within 3 days, before or after school

Classroom Discussions PLEASE participate I want to hear what you have to say Make all questions and comments relevant to the current discussion If your question is off the topic, write it down and ask later.

Moving around the room You must ask permission Do not ask during a classroom discussion unless it is an emergency

Homework---It’s not bad! Read over Syllabus w/Parent/Guardian, both of you sign, and return! Read over Film Permission Form w/Parent or Guardian, both of you sign, and return! Return when? of class This will be your first grade, and it’s a softball….Don’t mess up two easy 100s!
