3 Welcome to Ms. Moore’s Classroom Everything you ever wanted to know about your math class this year! Procedures & Guidelines

4 Am I in the right room? Check your schedule and make sure it reads: Moore-Room 434

5 Where am I supposed to sit? For the first week, you get to pick your seats, and after classes get settled I will arrange you in your permanent seats.

6 Who is this teacher as a person?

7 Will this teacher treat me fairly? Yes,Always! But, in return I want you to follow your classroom expectations!

8 What will I be doing this year?

9 How will I be graded? 60% of your grade is tests, 30% is daily grades, and 10% is homework. ***Math Improvement 50/50***

10 What supplies will I need? 1 ½ or 2 inch binder Dividers w/5 tabs Spiral ***Pencils*** Red pen for grading 1 pkg of Dry Erase Markers (to be left in the classroom)

14 Guideline #1 Follow all school rules.

15 Guideline #2 Be respectful and responsible for your actions.

16 Guideline #3 Seek my permission before speaking and leaving your desk

17 Guideline #4 Come to class on time and be prepared.

18 Guideline #5 I will dismiss you, not the bell.

19 Special Guideline This classroom is a “No Whining Zone”. That means that there will be no whining, for ANY reason. Everything that I do is in your best interest, so please…respect the “No Whining Zone” this year.

20 Following Guidelines will result in: Verbal Acknowledgement Earning P.A.T. time for your class A Stress free learning environment A pleasant and orderly classroom atmosphere

21 Not Following Guidelines will result in: 1st – 3 rd – Warning & Strike Book 4th – Parent Phone Call 5 th – Referral

22 Severe Clause Any student who uses profanity, fights, damages school property (this includes the property of the teacher and other students), or is disrespectful (as defined by the teacher) will receive a parent phone call IMMEDIATELY and may receive an office referral.

23 Classroom Procedures

24 Entering the room Please enter quietly Have a seat Take out your materials Begin warm-up assignment –Warm-ups must be complete within 5 minutes

25 Getting your attention I will: Stand in front of the class Raise my hand Count backwards from 5 –Do NOT help me count –You DO NOT want me to reach 0 Begin speaking

26 Finish Classwork Early “What do I do next?”

27 What Do I Do Next? Activities Work on unfinished Math assignments Read a book Review vocabulary words Start working on tonight's homework

28 What Do I Do If I am absent? Check the homework board Ask a friend Ask me Check the class website

29 Classroom Discussions PLEASE participate I want to hear what you have to say Make all questions and comments relevant to the current discussion If your question is off the topic, write it down and ask later.

30 Moving around the room You must ask permission to get out of your seat for any reason Do not ask to leave your seat during a classroom discussion unless it is an emergency

31 Class Dismissal I will dismiss you, not the bell Do not start packing up with the 6 th grade bell Wait until I finish and officially dismiss you with: “Have a nice day ”

32 Odds & Ends No food, gum, or drinks in the classroom at any time unless I provide it to you You can only use a pencil in this class – no pens please In order to get credit, you MUST show ALL of your work ALL of the time.

33 More Odds & Ends TOSS items away in the trashcan, do NOT throw them. Save your basketball talents for the court. When you are loaning items to another student, hand it to them. Do not throw it.

34 Pledge You do not have to recite the Pledge of Allegiance or the Texas State Pledge, but you are expected to stand in order to honor the men & women who have fought to give you that right to stand.

35 Moment of Silence It is what it is….a moment of silence…which means no noise, no talking, no nothing. Announcements Absolutely no talking during any & all announcements

36 Fire Drills In the event of a fire drill you are to: –Line up quietly –Turn left and go down the steps & out the door –Walk in silence in a single file line –Stay together –If the exit is blocked, we will go to the right & down the steps –The last one out, turns the lights off

37 Group Work Expectations Inside voice only Everyone participates Ask 3 before me Stay on task

38 One Last Thing Please don’t call me “Miss” Use my full name…. Ms. Moore… at all times If I can learn approximately 150 of your names, you can learn mine

39 Remember… I truly believe in your potential and I want you to believe in it too! Have an awesome year! Ms. Moore
