CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS AND PROCEDURES
Presentation transcript:

 You will need a 3 ring binder/bradded folder for notes, notebook paper, and pencils for this class.  * I will give you a free 100 if you bring some tissue and germ-x

 In my class you only have two responsibilities. › 1. Take responsibility for your learning. › 2. ROAR!  R esponsible  O n time/On task  A lways follow directions  R espect yourself and others

“All actions have an equal and opposite reaction.” ~ Isaac Newton

 It is your responsibility to make sure you are prepared for class keeping up with your assignments › At the beginning of class 500 people can sharpen their pencils. If I am talking 0 people can be sharpen their pencils. During class, when I am not talking, 1 person at a time may be at the sharpener. You do not have to raise your hand for the sharpener if I am NOT talking.

› Location of books, turn in trays, calculators. › If you are absent, it is YOUR responsibility to get your work from me. › When you are assigned homework, it is due upon entrance to my class. › Homework will be discussed in detail later.  Frivolous cell phone use is prohibited during class. › If you are doing anything other than what you are expected to be doing on the cell phone, I will confiscate it and turn it in. (If your phone sounds during class, I will hold it in my desk and return it at the end.) › Frivolous use of the cell phone includes but is not limited to: texting, calling, facebook, kik, instagram, snapchat, etc. Please, tell mom, dad, homies, etc. they do not need to call/text you during my class because it will get your phone confiscated.

 Upon entry to the class, you need to get your calculator. You are assigned a number in my grade book—that is the number that you will use for your calculator. (Once classes are level, I may need to reassign numbers. )  Understand that if you get someone else’s stuff and yours ends up damaged—that is on you and you will be required to pay for it. Make sure you get YOUR number.  If you need to use the restroom, go between classes. You get two restroom breaks per nine weeks (emergencies included). Otherwise you need a note from your doctor.

 Be on time for class.  We will have tardy sweeps everyday. When the bell rings, I will shut the door and I will not allow you back into class unless you have a pass from the office. › If you know you are late please, go to the Achieve Academy Office and get a tardy pass. DO NOT knock on the door and disrupt class.  When you walked in, you saw there was a warm up for you. Expect one everyday Within 1 minute of entering my class, you should have your supplies out and be working. I will deduct points for time off task.

 When you are done with your warm up, I want you to leave it on your desk so that I can check it and we can go over/discuss it if necessary. › Put everything away, let’s practice coming in the room, getting our book, and calculator and getting to work within 1 minute.

 We are here to learn. In order to learn, you have to practice. (You're not bad at Math) We will work from the time you enter the classroom until I dismiss you. Don’t ask what we’re going to do because the answer will always be “work” and it will be written on the board.(You're not bad at Math)

 When I want you to be quiet, I will hold my hand in the air and count down from 5. By the time I get to 1 the class should be silent.

 Drill Behavior- when there is an evacuation drill…fire drill or any drill/emergency where we have to go outside. We will line up in an orderly fashion and we will go outside in an orderly fashion and we will STAY TOGETHER.

 Treat others and their belongings how you want yourself and your belongings to be treated.  This includes my things. Please don’t take things without asking or putting them back, and don’t be wasteful, and don’t break things.  THINK BEFORE YOU ACT or SPEAK!!

 This is not Theatre Arts. Leave the drama outside!!

 IF you have major drama in your life that you can’t function….you are allowed 1 “ really bad day ” per semester…use it wisely. › The “ really bad day ” pass states that you may lay your head down and weep (silently), sleep, or just sit there to process your drama. › NOTE: The processing of said drama MUST be silent and must not interfere with the learning of others. › NOTE: You ARE still responsible for the work we did that day.

 Treat others how you want to be treated.  If I am talking, you will: › Listen (not talk/ pay attention) › Answer my questions when asked (Just Try!) › Raise your hand if you have a question relevant to the lesson › Do Not ask to leave the room (unless it’s an emergency) › Stay in your seat

 If I am helping another student or students DO NOT call out my name unless it’s an emergency.  If you need my help at that moment you may put a star by the problem and move on to another one.  I WILL NOT HELP YOU DURING TESTS OR QUIZZES…So don’t ask

 What is the procedure for entering the room?  What is the procedure for the sharpener? (how many people can be there and when)  What is the policy for tardies?  When is it okay to raise your hand?  What is the procedure for asking my help when I am helping someone else?  What is the procedure for make up work?

 Today we talked about how to/what to do when you come into class, what happens for tardies, the pencil sharpener, how to get my help respectfully, what to do for make up work, how to respond during a drill.  Tomorrow, we will review these and discuss some more.  Your first homework assignment is to have your parents subscribe to celly.  Remember the bell does not dismiss you, I do

 What is the procedure for cell phones?  What is the procedure for books and calculators?  What is the procedure for an evacuation drill or anytime we have to go outside
