Please find a seat at the table you drew walking into class. Begin working on your “I am” paper that is on your table. The purpose of this is to show me a bit of who you are. I have left a copy of my “I am” on each table to give you an idea of what to do.

2 Ms. Shockey’s Room Room 609 Math 6
Please find a seat at the table you drew walking into class. Get started filling out your Facebook page on your desk. If you don’t have a pencil there are some in the baskets on each table.

3 Welcome! “If you are not willing to learn, no one can help you. If you are determined to learn, no one can stop you.”

4 A little about me

5 Ms. Shockey Crawford Middle School
Classroom Procedures Ms. Shockey Crawford Middle School

6 Coming into class… Be on time. Enter the classroom quietly.
Grab your calculator from the calculator caddy (unless otherwise posted). Get your binder from the bookshelf. Sharpen your pencil before class starts. If you do not have a pencil, TELL ME. Go directly to your assigned seat. Copy your homework into your agenda. Begin working on your opener and calendar.

7 During class… Listen and pay attention at all times.
Raise your hand to ask a question or to sharpen your pencil if it should break. If I am writing notes, you’d better be too.  All openers, notes, homework assignments, tests, quizzes, etc. should be done in pencil. No pens in math class. No side conversations during instruction. Participate.

8 Keeping your binder… You will keep a 1 1/2 inch binder in class. Each class will have a different section on the book shelf to keep your binder in. The outside cover of your binder should be a title page including your name and class period. You will also put your name and class period on the side spine of the binder. You will be given dividers so that you can organize your binder into sections. Within your binder, you will keep your opener/calendar sheet, any notes, extra practice, assessments, and anything else deemed important

9 Homework assignments…
You will have homework, expect it. You will usually have time at the end of class to work on it. Always put your first and last name, the date, and your class period on each assignment. Always do homework in PENCIL. Homework assignments will be collected or checked the next day.

10 Before leaving class… You will be dismissed by tables to put your binder back on the bookshelf. You will not leave your binder on your table. I will dismiss you, the bell does not dismiss you. We will not leave class until all my calculators are on the wall and I have all my pencils back. Pick up around your table. Do not leave garbage on your desk or on the floor. Push your chair under the table and exit quietly.

11 If you are tardy… Tardiness is not acceptable.
A tardy will be excused only if you bring a note from your teacher. If you don’t have a note, you will be marked tardy. On your second tardy, you will call home. On your third tardy you will receive a referral with the administration. Every tardy after the third will result in a referral. This is the tardy policy at Crawford.

12 If you are absent… See me the day you return to school for your assignments. Do the work at home. I will make a copy of our notes for the day(s) you miss and you can copy them into your binder after you finish your math work for the day. If you miss a test, you will need to schedule a day after school you can stay with me and take it. It is your responsibility to come to me after you’re absent. I will not track you down.
