Student Portal Requests View and enter your requests for the next year during the posted period within the STUDENT portal of Aspen. During this date range, you can enter and make changes at any time. Student requests will then be reviewed by the counselor. When you finish, click Post to notify your counselor that you are done. To enter your requests: Log on to the Student view. Click the My Info tab. Click the Requests side-tab. The Requests page appears:

Important Changes and Highlights

English Senior year – no longer full year English 12 Variety of half-year electives (both CP and Honors)

Social Studies APUSH single year course (eliminates Pre- APUSH) Offered after a year of US History 1 Allows for flexibility with AP scheduling, including AP World History and AP Gov sophomore year New 12 th grade elective – History of Sports in Society: Senior Seminar

Science Next year will be phase II of last year’s change Chemistry taken by all 10 th graders Physics next step in progression, offering a college prep Physics

World Language Redesigning levels Accelerated will be Honors College Prep will integrate current Honors curriculum Consistency with other departments First year language courses are offered virtually through Middlebury College ASL I not open to seniors

Mathematics Redesign of levels to align with other departments Accelerated term being phased out year by year College Prep will integrate our current Honors curriculum New half year elective choices

Mathematics Grade 8 to Grade 9 placement is biggest change Ensures mastery in Algebra 1 before moving to Geometry Freshmen will take either Honors or College Prep Algebra OR Algebra 1B

9 th Grade Courses English 9 World History II Biology Math (Algebra or Geometry) World Language Intro to PE Fine, Performing or Practical Art Course 5 credits of electives (1 full year or 2 half year courses)

10 th Grade Courses English 10 Chemistry Math US History I World Language PE – all sophomores will take Health Fine, Performing, or Practical Art 5 credits of electives (1 full year or 2 half year courses)

11 th Grade Courses English 11 Science Math US History II PE Fine, Performing, or Practical Art 10 additional credits
