2 Course Selection at Home Log into your Student Access Account using your ID and password http://cms.springbranchisd.com/familyaccess

3 Course Selection at Home Click on Course Requests: Courses for 2012-2013 To choose a course, highlight the course and click “Add Course.”

4 Course Selection at Home Select your four core courses –English –Math –Science –Social Studies These courses span two semesters, so they will appear twice in the “Courses Requested” column.

5 Course Selection at Home Add six semesters of other courses– three for the fall and three for the spring. Remember your P.E., fine arts, communication applications, and foreign language requirements for graduation. You should see “Credits: 7.000” on the right side of your screen.

6 Course Selection at Home Choose the “Alternates” tab at the top of the screen. Choose two alternative electives. These electives will be used if a desired elective is closed or cannot fit into your schedule.

7 Course Selection at Home You can change the priority order of your alternates by clicking on the “Move Up” or “Move Down” button. Once you have finished, you can print out your choices. The window is open Friday, February 3 rd, through Wednesday, February 15 th.

19 Codes to understand in this PowerPoint PreAP: PreAdvanced Placement – a weighted credit course. AP: Advanced Placement - a weighted credit that is equivalent to a college course. GT: Gifted and Talented - You must be tested in order to be placed into this class. ACC: Accelerated - the level between Advanced Placement and Grade Level Courses. You do NOT receive weighted credit.

29 PHYSICAL EDUCATION You must have one year (1.0 credit) in P.E. for high school graduation. Dance no longer counts as a P.E. credit. Athletics counts as a PE credit. PreMarkettes, Markettes, and Band will count as a P.E. credit the first semester and Fine Arts the second semester.

30 FOREIGN LANGUAGE RECOMMENDED GRADUATION PLAN: At least two years of the same foreign language is required. DISTINGUISHED GRADUATION PLAN: At least three years of the same foreign language is required.

31 Foreign Languages The following languages are offered at Memorial: Spanish, French, German, and Latin. Japanese is offered through Spring Branch ISD on Saturdays at Westchester Academy.

32 FINE ARTS 1.0 credit of a fine art (both semesters must be in the SAME course) You may choose from Art, Art History, Orchestra, Band, Jazz Band, Choir, Music Theory AP, Theatre Arts, Technical Theatre, Dance, Electronic Media, and Floral Design (at the Guthrie Center).
