WELCOME TO MIDDLE SCHOOL SCIENCE Mrs. Cary 7 th Grade Science Drakes Creek Middle School

HOW TO ENTER THE CLASS Line up outside of the class-do not block the door. Allow students to exit before you enter. Enter the class quietly and go to your assigned seat. Students not in their seats when the bell rings will receive a tardy. 3 tardies = 1 write up

C LASS R ULES Be prepared for class. Have all class supplies on your desk ready for class. Sharpened pencils (2)-sharpen before class begins. Science workbook (or technology with workbook) Binder with paper Completed homework assignment

C LASS R ULES ALWAYS show respect. Do not mark on anything except paper. This includes using an eraser on desk top! Keep your hands and feet to yourself-do not touch others! Do not use harsh words or call names. Raise your hand to talk or answer a question-No Call Outs!

C LASS R ULES Talk only when given permission to do so. Talking without permission is disruptive to others and shows disrespect for the speaker. Raise your hand if you have something to say and wait until the teacher acknowledges you to speak. This will ensure that everyone is listening to what you have to say.

C LASS R ULES Carefully follow directions in class during labs. In order for you to do your best in science class you must always be careful to do what you are asked. Science will be fun and exciting if everyone cooperates!

HALLWAY PASSES You are allowed 6 hall passes each quarter (do not use them all the first week-they are for emergencies) they can be used in all classes. Additional trips out of the room are recorded as write ups. You must sign out and take a hall pass when leaving the room during class.

WHAT TO DO IF YOU ARE ABSENT If you miss class you must check the Agenda Board and then “Absent Box” for make up work upon returning. It is your responsibility to get all missed work and make it up within the time allowed (3 days).

H OMEWORK Homework will be assigned and is due on the date requested. You may only earn full credit if the work is turned in at the time it is requested during class. Work turned in after class time on its due date will have 10% grade reduction. Points will be deducted for each day late.

WRITE UPS Write ups are earned by students when they do not follow the class rules or when they choose to receive them in order to leave the room during class. If you receive one you will be asked to sign a copy and your parents will receive a copy.

P ARENT -T EACHER C OMMUNICATION Your parents or I may call, request a conference, send a note home or to school with you, or if we have a concern about your progress or conduct. It is very important that you, your parents, and your teacher are working together to help you succeed in science and in middle school.
